“We now have evidence that targeting excess labile iron in neurodegenerative disease can be achieved. By redistributing this reactive form of iron that contributes to disease pathogenesis, not only can we target α‑synuclein aggregation, but we can also break the vicious cycle underlying disease progression. This has implications for developing disease modifying treatments for orphan diseases such as MSA and Friedreich’s ataxia as well as major neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.”

Yes very intriguing isn't it? And seems to not have that side effect risk that that horrible stuff they just approved in are starting to use now for Alzheimer's. That's the one that didn't really have much of any benefit, costs massive, has to be monitored extremely closely because of the terrible side effects that can happen. I forget the name but if I saw it I know I would recognize it. This one on the other hand seems worth following and maybe even using.

Daniel Claassen, M.D., M.S. was the MDS hubby was scheduled to see back in 2018 at Mayo, Jacksonville. Had to cancel the appointment then and rescheduled it, but we couldn't get Dr. Claassen. Now he is a professor of Neurology at Vanderbilt, tried to make an appointment with him, but he didn't take any new patients. Dr. Isaacs was the MDS we started with at Vanderbilt, also a very sharp and most knowledgeable MDS we have had. He also went to research. Subsequent MDSs at Vanderbilt not of same caliber. We maintain a portal with Vanderbilt, and I was wondering if I can ask his current MDS (neurosurgeon) to request participation in this trial.

Link doesn't open. Thanks, trying again?

I sent a portal email to hubby's Vanderbilt neurosurgeon, Dr. Hassell. Hopefully, he will respond positively. This neurosurgeon offered FUS to my husband, but we haven't given it serious consideration.
