Supplementing with B1 (not high dose)?

Does anyone take B1 on its own (not high dose), and do you find it helpful?

I have been through the High Dose B1 Protocol, but stopped (the overdose process was much too intense for me). I currently take B-complex, but wondering if increasing B1 only would have benefit.

My first supplements were B1 and B12, due to the low levels indicated by the standard blood test during my PD diagnosis. Unfortunately, this proved to be insufficient. After a year, even a very high dose of C/L medication was no longer effective, and I developed severe PN (peripheral neuropathy). Extensive blood tests revealed that my B6 levels were almost negligible. It’s possible that B2 and B7 were also low. After acute B6 supplementation, I have been taking a moderate dosed bioactive B-complex for the past two years, which I alternate with a similar multivitamin. My PD is under control with tailored C/L medication (which is not needed in a low-stress environment), and the PN has stabilized.

Not only B1, but all B vitamins seem crucial for maintaining good neurological function.

My mom just takes Dr Bergs Nerve support, which has 300mg of Benfotiamine. We've only tried high dose B1 once with no observable change. She does have Peripheral Neuropathy at night sometimes so I may take other posters suggestion and increase overall B complex. She has always felt good about the way the Dr Berg Nerve support makes her feel. Particularly in just overall energy levels.

I have been taking a 100mg B1 sublingual for about 2 years. I don't know if that is considered high dose or not.

A few m9nths after I started all of my PD symptoms went away above my waist. I still have balance issues.

I have never taken any of the usually prescribed PD medications.
