Hello, Could someone please help us. My husband started high dose B1 therapy a few months ago. When he did, he also quit his Vita min D3 ....thinking he had read somewhere not to take the D3 when taking B1. However, lately I have read that a lot of people with PD take big doses Vit D. Does anyone out there with PD take them both? I want to make sure we are using the B1 right. Should he be taking his D3 also and go back to it....or stay away from D3 when taking B1 in high dosage? Very confused. Help.

OK to take Vitamin D3 along with High Dose B1 Therapy?
Vitamin D and Vitamin B1 are not alternates for each other. My understanding is that Dr C asked people to stop other supplements whilst initially trialling B1 so that any changes (therapeutic or adverse) could be isolated to B1 rather than a confused picture.
If you are deficient vitamin D it makes sense to supplement it. Given it is possible to have excess vitamin D it makes sense to monitor levels with blood tests until it is stable.
Dr C. told me to take B complex with B1. Does anyone do this?
I believe Dr. C. suggested using only B1 as a supplement for a short time at the beginning, just to determine its effectiveness. However, once you have determined your optimal dose of B1, I believe you can and should take additional supplements, including Vitamin D.
Thanks for the replies, Very useful
myLO takes D with B1 HCL…. Seems fine.
my wife has Parkinson’s and she takes Benfotamine (B1) 300mg 3-4 times a week and 10,000 mg of D3 every day. D3 is extremely important. Blood levels should be 80-100 my opinion. Most are extremely deficient in D levels. I’m Not a doctor.
