B1 — starting with 100 mg

I’m getting close to starting high dose B1 but will start on a low dose and gradually increase. What is a good source of 100 mg of B1 HCl, and what brand are you using? Have you found a source that doesn’t contain magnesium stearate?

Thanks!

We, at firs't, started with a high dose, and then because my husband's symptoms are so minor, after 5 years, we decided to start with a lower dose. He is taking Solar B1, 100 mg. We also bought powder and a scale and can raise or lower the dose in 50 mg increments. Right now, he is taking 300mg am, 300mg pm, along with his mucuna and amino acids. He stays on that for 3 days and then we will adjust if his symptoms get worse. If they don't get worse, he will be on that dosage longer. I keep a detailed diary to help with dosing.

This is the one I listed on the HDT page for 100 mg thiamine HCI x 250 capsules :

Thanks, Art. I take it that Swanson makes good quality products.

Spottedtowhee,

My preference is to not recommend one manufacturer over another, but I can say that I would not have an issue with taking that brand, but there are other manufacturers that I can say the same about. I mainly put that one on the HDT page because it was thiamine HCI and at the time that I listed it, forum members were looking for a lower dose product to help fine tune their dosing to a finer point than could be had with the Vitacost 500 mg capsules.
