Has anyone experienced the use of Opiates ( Oxycodone, propoxyphene) for sleep disturbances. The following article recommends it as on e of the remedies:
Use of Opiates for sleep disturbances due... - Cure Parkinson's
Use of Opiates for sleep disturbances due to restless leg syndrome

And here we just had that article from jeffreyn about that Tanganil, which has an effect apparently on restless leg syndrome and you can get it prescribed to you right now (but it might make you stupid). Since RLS is pretty horrible might be worth trying.
my husband has RLS and we tried everything suggested by his Parkinsons nurse, magnesium, iron ,vibrating devices, and the worst thing of all Ropinerol which gave him horrendous hallucinations. Finally I asked our doctor to prescribe low dose co-codamol( it’s late,I’m tired and Iv probably spelt both meds wrong,sorry)15 mg not only stopped the RLS,it also made him sleep much better, and was not a big enough dose to give him constipation. It also meant I wasn’t up 6 or 7 times each night helping him in and out of bed.
That sounds like a seriously great find. When you are less tired, could you send again and spell it better just for reference? Because I intend to look it up and I think maybe other people are going to also.
By any chance did it happen to be:
Codeine/paracetamol?
Thanks very much!
Hi Marion, yes the generic title is Codeine/paracetamol,the brand at present we are getting on prescription is called Codipar 15 mg/500 mg.Our Parkinson’s nurse wasn’t keen, but our GP said the dose( taken an hour before bed) was not enough to cause constipation, though husband is on a capsule called Docusate which helps prevent any dino-Rod occurances. You can only get codeine products here in UK on prescription as they can be addictive, but as husbands RLS isn’t going to disappear,GP wasn’t concerned about it at such a low dose. The few side effects are not serious, and the positives have been great.
