Symptoms almost exactly as Restless leg syndrome
I don't know that you would call what I have as RLS? But for some time my left knee/leg will lock up and 9 times out of 10 it will flow into my right. Not very good when I just had my left replaced... And the is no set time from so that I can plan for it.
Good luck
I have RLS,restless leg syndrome, my primary care physician is giving me morphine and tizanadine for pain and to help sleep. It helps some.
I take clomazapam, and it works fine for me,I sleep well with it
I believe some people take a low dose Amitriptyline and find it helps .
I had horrible leg pain for several years and Dr. put me on Requip XL and now I rarely have it. Always keep your legs warm, I used to take hot baths in the middle of the night , also found that diabetic socks (the tight ones) helped and if you can find a good diabetic pain cream it should help also. Good luck and I hope this gives you some relief and a good nights sleep.
RLS can be helped by rx gabapentin (neurontin). I also (usually in the middle of the night) sit in a scalding hot shallow bath. Just enough to cover my legs. Works every time! About 20 minutes. Good Luck!
this is true for me too and scalding hot bath helps. Also clonopin, valerian and melatonin and a consistent bedtime routine.
I thought I had RLS until I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with pd.
RLS may occur independently or as a symptom of PD. Quite often Dopamine agonist medication is used successfully. I take Pramipexole (Mirapexin) primarily as part treatment for PD. Another example dopamine agonist that may be used for RLS and PD is Ropinirole. If I don't take my Pramipexole then I get RLS that is bad enough to prevent sleep. I remember lying there and counting something like 15 seconds between each twinge that flowed through each leg and arm. Drives yer bonkers doesn't it.
The variety of replies surprises me. The main reason for taking Ropinirole, as far as I am concerned, is to prevent RLS, which it does very well. I take a 8mg slow release pill in the morning, then a 1mg pill at bedtime (around 1am) - if I forget the 1mg one I usually wake with twitching thighs.
RLS is a specific condition and should not be confused with other muscle complaints, e.g. cramping, clenching toes etc.
I thought I was suffering from restless legs which kept me awake regularly. I now think it was mild dyskenesia induced by PD medication. Since stopping some of the medication - no problems at all.
I don't necessarily have pain, but my left leg is in constant motion - if I sit or lie down or do exercises, my left foot is constantly moving ..
Pexola XL .375 mg - since I have been using this, all symptoms of Restless Legs has disappeared
