My MDS is a huge fan of rasagiline and I’ve taken it for almost 3 years, and want to continue to take Mucuna and carbidopa as needed along with it. I've read that Mucuna should not be taken with rasagiline. Is there any truth to this? I’m not going to stop taking rasagiline, and I’d rather not start taking Sinemet!

No truth to that idea at all. Rasagaline helps to conserve dopamine and so they do work well together.
My sister who has PD has taken mucuna together with rasagiline for over a year with no adverse effects.
I contacted Dr Maldonado, the Spanish neurologist who wrote the book about macuna. At first I tried to drop the rasagilne but my body has been on it for 14 years and didn’t like giving up! Dr Maldonado okayed my return to rasagiline which I take along side madopar and macuna.
After 8 wasted years and money on Mucuna I've come to the conclusion that it is horrible weed. Useless as a medication because there is no quality control, dosage, or any semblance of effectiveness other than a placebo, deluding one into believing the unbelievable that a herb could have predictable medical effect. It's like taking willow bark for a headache instead of an aspirin. It also complicates and counteracts the effectiveness of real medicines. Delays the use of evidence based medicine. Especially mixing it with medications hoping that it will help. On the contrary. It is an inhibitor of any well-being or benefits. And it could be laced with toxic poisons, heavy metals. Lead etc.who know s what? Which we willingly and blindly take with out any proof, recourse, or assurance that it will help and not harm.
Besides if not properly prepared since it is a toxic bean full of lectins it could cause irreparable harm and negative health.
Why do we subject ourselves to garbage herbs, supplements, and concoctions that are no more than snake oil. I can't believe I've fallen for it. I resolve to be more skeptical about substances like Mucuna that have no place in medicine or health and wellness.
Duping and deluding gullible Parkinson's patient s who are vulnerable to this non sense in the false hope that it will help. When in fact it makes one sicker. When will it end?
Can't be soon enough!
