Trying too many supplements at the same time. Maybe crying wolf. It’s really too early to tell.

I have made the mistake of trying too many supplements at the same time and I now have the dilemma of which one (or combination of) is working. I feel if a cure is found, it may be a combination of different things.

1) PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) with Luteolin — I recently (9 days ago) upped to the recommended 2 caps (PEA 630mg, Luteolin 30mg). PEA is supposedly good for mitochondria.

2) Fatty15 — On day 58, a pricey supplement with a lot of hype, which is supposedly good for mitochondria? (I was considering stopping.)

3) Mitopure Urolithin A — On day 7, also a pricey supplement hyped as mitochondria revitalizer. Yes, could be Placebo, but I am feeling good. (I have written Mitopure asking, what makes their product better than others.)

4) On 4/19/24 Added Spermidine, stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis and function via activation of the SIRT1/PGC-1α signaling pathway.

I am now on Day 5 of a the B1 Break, because of problems(a). I was faced with the dilemma of should I stop the new supplements or take a B1(b) break. I went to bed thinking the supplements, but decided on the break the next morning. I figured maybe it was due to return of symptoms (overdose), so I chose the break. (Maybe, I don’t require as much B1 due to the new supplements.)

Notes

a. Problems: On Day 2 of the combination, could not a walk straight and I could not dance that night.

b. I started with TTFD 2 yrs ago and had immediate results, but continuously overdosed. I had to take breaks and kept reducing my dose often.

FYI

i. I have found success with B1 Therapy (1 yr ago, sweet spot was 1400mg B1 hcl oral, and currently 925mg). B1 is also supposedly good for healthier mitochondria. I started B1 with TTFD (thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide).

ii. I do not recommend TTFD. I continuously overdosed on TTFD. But; ODing every 5 to 8 weeks might not be a bad thing; It’s common with B1 Therapy to reduce dose every 6 months to a year. Maybe, TTFD just speeds up the process of requiring less B1).

iii. I walk 1-1/2 mile 3 to 4 times a day (weather permitting).

iv. I take too many supplements and I am in need of analyzing my stack and weeding out some.

v. My blood tests the last few years show I have the beginning stages of kidney disease. I figure because of the number of supplements. I have been drinking more water and my last test showed, ok.

PEA was adverse for me - caused dizziness.

How long did you take PEA?

It caused dizziness on the very first dose and that was not something I cared to repeat. Nonetheless, on subsequent occasions I did try lower dosages and that cured me of trying further attempts.

Get a functional medicine doctor to check out your supplements

Why waste your time with medications and supplements?

There is no cure for PD but; and this is a big BUT!

If you walk as fast as you can, for one hour, every second day, you will overcoeme your movement problems.

I have been doing the fast walking since 1994 and I am still able to walk normally and have no PD symptoms.

Try it! It costs nothing and it helps your health in many other weys.

Why do doctors not tell us to do this? Some do, but most prefer to prescribe useless medication.

I wonder why?

There is no question exercise helps and can reverse PD. I walk 1-1/2 miles (2.4 km) 3 to 4 times a day.

Exercise isn't exclusively fast walking. medicine.yale.edu/news-arti...

No, There are lots other exercises but, FAST WALKING does something very special, which nothing else does: It produces a substance in the brain called GDNF, Look it up!

GDNF repairs damage brain cells. No other exercise does that!

Same problem with me. Somebody posts improvement due to a certain supplement and I rush to buy it.

Last month threw away an entire year's supply of PS128 Active capsules and Mind capsules because of expiry. Before that, B1 HCl Vitacost.

My strategy is Neuroprotection, Neurogenesis, Neuronal Repair, Correcting Mitochondrial Dysfunction, Detoxification, Energy Production.

Currently taking R-ALA, Vit C complex, Curcumin, Ginkgo Biloba, D3, B2, Omega 3 Super DHA, GlyNAC, MCT oil.

On the way, Melatonin, B1 HCL, Berberine HCL, TMG, Lithium orotate...

Cleared by accident as supplements were not aiming for that problem, WWP whose left leg above the knee, had an ache, in which, she had to stop and rest and stretch her leg.Was giving her vit 500mg twice a day B3 (nicotinamide ) along with 100mg coq10 twice a day.

The ache hasn't returned.

Gcf51 . Only way to know what is working for both medications and supplements is to try and add one at a time spaced at least 3 weeks apart.

I agree. I would say at least 3 weeks. Most of this stuff says, takes at least a month to take effect.

OCD - One of the side effects of increasing dopamine is compulsive behavior. I promised myself I wouldn’t post again and retract a few days later because of problems with what I was taking.

No problems yet.

Summary of Mitopure’s response: Mitopure is high quality Urolithin A and is still just food for bacteria in your gut – I see no reason not to purchase Neurogan's Ultra Micronized - Lab Verified Urolithin A.
