Researching Iodine supplementation. Theres a couple of fascinating books on the subject. Iodine is a very powerful element in regards to its effect on the human body. It seems like most of the people of the world are Iodine deficient Adding Iodine to salt, according to the books, does absolutely zilch, because most of it supposedly evaporates by the time it get to the consumer.
Did you know??? When they do a DAT scan, the isotope they use to measure the integrity of the dopaminergic system of the brain is radioactive Iodine?
I did try high dose iodine for a few weeks - around 10 mg as I recall. Did not do me any harm nor did it make any difference. This is a controversial matter as you may have observed. In reviewing this matter today I found this contrary article which I found convincing: integrativehealthcare.com/b...
wow, reading that article in the link makes me feel like a tin foil hat person! Definitely a controversial matter. Thanks for the reply, my good bear friend!
studies have shown that lithium and iodine can act synergistically to produce hypothyroidism and that the combined use of these agents should be avoided
I cannot cite any specific studies, but it was on a list of contraindications . I just googled it to verify, too. There’s a lot of meds that are contraindicated but the only one relevant to PD was Lithium. Im not sure if this applies to lithium carbonate, which is a lot more lithium than lithium orotate . Just wanted to play it safe. In addition, the cognitive benefits of lithium orotate supplementation are allegedly similar to that of iodine supplementation. There’s plenty to learn about, I guess.
