Parkinson's disease existed for ages before it was named after the Englishman. Forensic evidence in this text supports King David as the first recognizable person with PD. Furthermore, David proclaimed seven rules for better living with PD that are just as applicable today as 3000 years ago. And just perhaps... PD altered Western civilization.

5000 years old Ayurvedic text notes Parkinson's as different manifestation of Vata dosh, loosely grouped together under the heading Kampvata

Of course and the Vedic Aryans used Mucuna Pruriens aka Levodopa for relief.

Centuries later, we are still searching for the holy grail of sorts 😂😳

Dr. Carl Voyles wrote the book. He also made this video: King David has Parkinson's by Carl Voyles USA) youtube.com/watch?v=iWdTghb...

Of course this rather spoils the theory that PD is caused by modern chemicals. Unless King David was using roundup...

King David must have received blows to the head during his fight with Goliath and developed Parkinson's

😉 They can't even determine the cause of PD in JayPwP, let alone in King David.

Nobody is saying that PD is solely caused by modern chemicals, right? Even in individual cases, it is still not possible to determine the exact cause of PD, just as it is uncertain whether your gloves help to alleviate PD symptoms. Statistically, at most, one can demonstrate an association.

With pesticides, this was first observed in the pesticide cocktail used by French winegrowers. Since then, similar results have been observed worldwide, such as in the Netherlands among tulip growers. Recently, a study was conducted in the United States on the proximity to residential and workplace pesticide application and the risk of progression of Parkinson's disease in Central California.

You can choose to ignore this, but denying certain pesticides and chemicals as one of the possible (co-)causes of PD is unwise. Not so much for us, but for the sake of future generations and further research into the disease.

However, the extent of the impact of chemicals on us, as well as the effectiveness of PD gloves, is a different story.

There is a world of difference between "contribute to" and "cause". I am fully aware they contribute to an increased incidence and support the elimination of such harmful products. But when the likes of silent echoes assert they are exclusively the cause it causes folk to look in the wrong place for a fix.

I got the book, and look forward to reading it. And I wanted to interject here about the pesticides. They may not have had round up back then, but pesticides have likely existed for thousands of years. and I 100% believe that it takes many causes to mess with our bodies to the point of this type of breakdown. I am about to read Lipton's Biology of Belief, and and open to new information. I also don't think it's helpful to stick to just one way, and to focus on "either or" type thinking. I believe that just because one thing rings true, doesn't mean the "opposite" isn't ALSO true.

I have to wonder how much of the roundup fire we would have had it not be for the hungry plaintiffs and the power of class action against large companies. The "supportive data" is/are based on selected numbers.... and numbers can be like women..... pure, truthful, honorable... or used and abused like harlots

Even numbers are subject to interpretation.

My doctor, who is a leading proponent of Evidence-Based-Medicine, cautioned me about using Google to identify the “cause/s” of a disease. He explained that many articles on the internet are written or sponsored by lawyers who use these articles to support their litigation by influencing members of the jury who do not understand the difference between what is a real cause versus what is merely a statistical association.
