Best magnesium dosage

I have been taking Life Extension extended release magnesium (as ZumXR magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate) 500 mg (2 capsules of 250 mg each). I understand from Daphne’s Facebook group that Mg Oxide is not recommended. I intend to switch to Mg-1-threonate. Does anyone know what dosage of Mg-1-threonate would correspond to 500mg Mg Oxide? and what the best brand of Mg-1-threonate might be? Thank you for whatever info anyone may have!

I use just 240 mg of Magnesium glycinate a day and also use a Magnesium oil spray. I've been using Magtein Magnesium L-threonate for years. I only used enough of that to get 500 mg at night. I'm taking a break from the theonate form right now.

I look for supplements with the least excipients. But I notice that Dr Costantini didn't emphasize that part. And he advised holding off on all supplements until your dose of thiamine was established. Once the dose is established, then magnesium dose is considered.

I've just been reviewing the notes there. My husband is the PWP.

Thank you all for your kind responses.!

And thank you Violet for the link to 58 FAQ’s about HDT! I am looking at Magtein magnesium from Double Wood. The bottle says serving size is 4 capsules, which equals 2000 mg. Since I’ve only been taking 500 mg of magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, do you think I should start with just one capsule a day of use the l-threonate?

To fill in more, I also take 150 mg of oral thiamine a day (50 of the mg comes from a B-complex bit), as well as a capsule of mucuna pruniens at night along with 25/100 sinemet extended releases 4x a day, and fast walking.

I'm not sure. Here's the thing, you want to look at the amount of elemental magnesium that's in that 2000mg. It's 144mg of magnesium. So, imo that's not a lot. And 4 capsules to get that 144mg.

In my magnesium glycinate, you get 120mg of magnesium in one capsule. So, it depends on how much elemental magnesium you want. And how many capsules you want to take.

Then, you might have an opinion about what you want to ingest from the capsules themselves. I would rather get gelatin capsules and don't like the cellulose ones. But, sometimes that's available and gelatin caps are harder to find now.

Well, so.... Violet
