This is very good information! I currently fast from dinner until lunch every day, will try every-other and see if it makes an improvement. Thanks so much for sharing Farooqji!
Great article Farooqji. Thanks for sharing! Has anyone on here got direct experience of benefits of fasting for PD, and advice on an effective regime that doesn’t leave you feeling hungry/tired all the time?
Do some research 1st. Dr. Jason Fung is one of the most read people about fasting. The way that worked best for me was to eat at least 3 hours before bed like at 6 pm then eat after 6 pm the next night. That way I didn't go to bed hungry either day. Drink lots of water, there are some that say you can drink black coffee but I don't. Don't give up, it may take several starts to do it. Better to keep trying than throwing in the towel.
I can fast for 24 hours with no problems. At first you literally believe you can't do it but you can. It's all your mind. The more you do it the easier it gets. The average person today could fast for 6 months with a high body fat % and not starve, including me 😊. I generally fast 14/10 but I travel a lot and screw it up when I am gone. I am working on it. I feel it genuinely makes me feel better but can't tell if it helps my PD as I am still figuring this out. Also have found that now when I can't eat I don't get agitated worrying about missing a meal. I will definitely be trying this method soon.
There are tons of testimonials of fasting helping Boost cognitive performance, Protect from obesity and associated chronic diseases, Reduce inflammation, Improve overall fitness, Support weight loss, Decrease the risk of metabolic diseases, Benefit cancer patients. And now this study is great! Most humans should not eat all day long.
Mice and rats have metabolisms very different than ours. But how different I do not know. If 24-48 hours is beneficial for mice, how does that translate to humans?
I’m guessing that a mouses metabolism is about 3 times ours.
