What if neurofibrillary tangles aka misfolded proteins are formed to bind toxic metals?

My hypothesis is that misfolded proteins do not cause neurodegeneration; they are the effect of our body's natural response to toxic metal exposure as a way to bind them, especially cadmium.

Research warriors could you help out and see if there is any research that was done on these brain plaques to determine heavy metal content?

I'm deep in metallothionin and phytochelatin research at the moment.

Thx, SE

"Scientists found that an accumulation of heavy metals contributes to the creation of sticky proteins in the brain that cause brain damage. The proteins clump into two kinds of plaques called amyloids and tau tangles. The same plaques and tangles are found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s"

"Increased neuronal iron, copper and zinc also bind to tau protein and facilitate the formation of NFTs. Consequently, excessive amounts of heavy metals are found within plaques and NFT."

"Dietary fiber: Various foods rich in fiber, such as fruit and grains with bran, may help remove heavy metals. Researchers have found fiber to reduce mercury levels in the brain and blood. Chlorella: Studies have shown that chlorella increases the detoxification of mercury in mice."

I believe some years ago Amalgam fillings were credited to toxic metal in the brain?
