I just got the results of my Genova labs NutrEval test. If you're on Medicare, and your doctor orders it, Medicare pays for it. Chock full of information on nutrients, oxidative stress markers and other useful information. My Lipid Peroxides are high -- no surprise when I found out what they are: "Lipid peroxides are oxidative degradation products of lipids, generated by a free radical chain reaction. Because of their abundance of reactive hydrogens, polyunsaturated fatty acids are highly susceptible to lipid peroxidation, which compromises the integrity and function of the cell membrane in which they reside."

For those of you knowledgeable about these things, strategies for lowering Lipid Peroxides? I'm starting to read about this, as it's perhaps the most significant finding in my results, I already take a lot of antioxidants and eat a low carb, moderate protein diet with a lot of plants, nuts, seeds, not much fruit (spikes my glucose) except dark berries and avocado and lemon/lime, good fats (mostly olive oil and MCT oil, small amount of Ghee on occasion). My guess is that I need to work more on lowering psychological stress -- I've started regular meditation and try to separate myself from family drama as much as possible. Also retired, although I need more social interaction -- I have few friends left, since some moved away (and others are going to move).
Is a plant based diet any better than eating clean (pasture raised) meats as far as reducing oxidative damage?
