My husband's mom had PD. My husband is showing signs as well - lost smell/taste, mental/ behavioral changes, sleep problems, depression, memory loss, fatigue. tremors and muscle stiffness. As a couple we are taking a natural approach. He had a fall a number of weeks ago and sustained a head injury - thankfully no concussion. Dr recommended physiotherapy - very helpful as physiotherapist recommended some great balance exercises. Dr also recommended an ultrasound of neck - nothing unusual there. Now waiting for a Holter monitor and to see cardiologist.

I research natural approaches to PD and as a result my husband is on B1 (200 mg/day), D3 (5,000 IU/day), Jarrow B-right B-comples (1/day) and Omega3 (1000mg/day.) Going to start him on Naka L-Threonate magnesium (2 caps/day to start.)

Massage: As well using a combination of Frankincense, Vetiver and Helichrysum Oils. I massage along his spine before bed (two nights per week.) This has a calming effect and both enjoy this therapy. Interesting article on oils for PD steadiwear.com/blogs/parkin.... Thinking of moving from Omega3 to Krill Oil.

Also have a handheld a Cordless Shiatsu Massage Pillow which helps with tight muscles (arms and legs) ... plus a handheld ball vibrator which is helping with hand tremors (cup both hands around it for approximately 3 minutes.

I don't believe the steadiwear glove is proven for PD yet. it has been quite helpful for essential tremors what what I understand. He may also want to get genetic testing

I need to update my page to provide references. I think Niacin, Broccoli sprouts, Lithium Orotate, and Binaural Beats are (and Cinnamon) (and the SCD) are the most important items. I am also off Gluten and off Lectins.

I have not been diagnosed with PD. I have RBD, I am trying to fix my RBD and avoid PD.

hello ~ we did purchase the Steadi-wear glove and returned it with no problems. In the return-reply, the company dud state it was not designed for Parkinson's

We do B1 after buying Daphney’s book. Great read

We also do Macuna puriens. There is a lot of information here about Macuna. We purchase, in bulk, a brown Macuna from Barlow’s online. We bought our capsule maker and capsules online as well

You're doing wonderful things for your husband! Here are some of my suggestions:

1) I have 2 (relatively large) massagers in my bed... I rest my arms on each one and it gently puts me to sleep... You can buy these on Amazon for about $90 or eBay for $60 each...

2) Get ... sunshine. It helps with vitamin D and serotonin production and it's ... FREE.

Various docs recommend at least 10 minutes daily.

3) Vibration plate machine!

These can be pricey -- I don't know how much they would be in Spain. I paid $500.00 usd for mine. But it is an amazing device. You just 'stand' on it... for a 10 minute session (more if needed). Or your dad could be sitting in a chair with his legs resting on the vibration plate.

There are good studies that show "vibration" is an effective self-therapy and non-invasive!

4) Sauna

I have a home sauna that I use 2 - 3 times a week, 90 minutes each session.

The body and brain needs/loves this type of 'stress' which helps it to recover even stronger.

5) Stationary Bike

THIS is a great way to get ... MOVEMENT... at whatever pace he can handle.

6) Diet

Of course you should check with your medical teams on anything that I've suggested for your husband's particular situation. Personally, I am on day #245 of the O.M.A.D. diet (one meal a day). I've lost over 50 pounds! ... And I can still eat pizza... potatoes... fruit!

that's a funny thing (because someone else has asked me about this) -- there is 'no' name on my machine! ... I bought it from a discount outlet several years ago. There are literally 100s of different models and pricing. I suggest you start shopping at Amazon. Best of luck!

Sounds like you’re really doing the right things! I would increase the B1 up to the high dosages, either 2 grams a day or 4grams.

Also with the physical therapy, try to get a high intensity exercise regime in place…something that works muscles to exhaustion.

I'm pretty sure B1 only works (or at least Dr. Constantini said it only works) in tandem with Sinemet (or equivalent). So if you are not planning on that I'm not sure about it. There are expert B1 folks around here though...you can ask.

What Dr. Costantini said, is that in some of his patients in the earlier stages of PD, they were able to use B1 without CL to good effect, but in more advanced patients, optimal benefit was obtained through combined use of B1 and CL.

I would like to suggest that you increase his B complex to 3 times a day and the essential oils every day. Add magnesium and ashwaghanda for stress reduction. My husband has been on these for a few years and has remained on only 1 med (but takes other helps also).

Hi. Fast Walking is still the only thing you can do, which reverses PD Symptoms! You may not think you can do it but you only need to walk, as fast as you can for two minutes, at the beginning and slowly build it up to one hour, walking as fast as YOU CAN!

Have you looked at the Mayo Clinic Study on 'High Energy Aerobic Exercise. It proves that our brain produces GDNF and other chemicals, which repair the damaged brain cells and that gives you more dopamine and the symptoms slowly disappear!
