Inspiration for exercising better, Tour de France

Yes I get more energized, more motivated and ride my exercise bike better whenever I'm on it and watching Tour de France. So I'm recording it for use when the tour is over. Just a hint for anyone needing some motivation 😅

John Pepper writes that exercise helps but must be done by paying attention to the task. So fast walking, etc. I wonder if medication is why I'm having trouble getting out to exercise. Years ago I found that in winter I was less willing to endure cold and sideways snow. And felt the reason was the prozac I'd been prescribed. When I topped taking prozac I found I was willing to deal with sub-zero temps and snowstorms while running. Now I'm on duloxetine, almost the same drug as prozac. I take it for serious reasons and don't want to quit.

As far as being motivational, I doubt watching a bunch of guys on bicycles trying not to crash into each other will spur me on. I'll keep keep looking for inspiration.

I just pretend to be one of them, so i ride like I'm trying to compete and keep up with them. Of course I never even get remotely close to succeeding but I end up doing much better than I normally would have 😅

What types of doping are you considering using to compete in the race?

I think Tour de France has succeeded in repairing its reputation tarnished by doping over a decade ago, I'm surprised doping still comes to your mind when you think of Tour de France

Sorry about that. It just shows my limited following of the Tour De France. Most of my knowledge of it was Lance Armstrong cheating and cheating.

I guess a more current reference would be: Watch out for those spectators!

That was comedic genius!

Doping seems to still be a problem in many sports with the obv. exception of Darts. 🤣

I still hate winter weather, never coped with it and I exercise very poorly during winter.. even though I've lived in England almost all my life. And my hatred of winter is getting worse every year, maybe it's inversely proportional to PD progression

I think 'hatred of winter' is typical of advancing age. One cannot enjoy aching joints. One cannot enjoy icy, slippery steps that must be negotiated every morning before reaching the car. Personally I looked forward to retirement to somewhere with a warmer climate. But that was before PD took over.

Try playing cards or chess on your iPad while walking on your treadmill. I do that for 1/2 he and the time goes by quickly. Any game you like. I am 80. You can do it. Give it a shot.

Maybe watching dancing videos...if you like music ..or a concert conductor...it helps me. A suggestion.

How do you attach your tablet onto the treadmill?

I tried a sheet of plywood and bungie cords.
