Symptoms sound just like PD. It's it possible a person told they have PD actually had FND. It's important because FND is triggered by stress, not some still poorly understood mechanism with dopamine.
Anyone hear of this?

Yes I have heard of this and know someone who has been diagnosed with it. There is a forum on here - health unlocked, for people with fnd. I have also know a person diagnosed with fnd by many neurologists who ended up in a wheelchair before she was properly diagnosed with PD. She was able to move out of her chair and stand after one day on levadopa.
No its not treated with levadopa as far as i am aware. The person i mention was misdiagnosed. She had PD which had progressed untreated to her ending up in a wheel chair. Levadopa was a miracle drug to her.
I know of someone with the opposite scenario. For more then ten years, she had been misdiagnosed with PD until her diagnosis was eventually changed to FND. Because her hand tremor immediately responded to levodopa, her doctor just assumed that it was PD. It wasn't. Neurologists seem to assume that any positive response to levodopa automatically means PD, but that is not always the case. They use C/L as a diagnostic tool, perhaps with some overreliance at times.
Yes, my neurologist thinks this is a possibility in my case. He has done a skin biopsy (Syn One test) which will confirm or deny Parkinson's or Parkinsonism. If FMD or FND, it is treatable with therapy but does not respond to Levodopa. However, I seem to respond well to small amounts of Levodopa (1/2 pill 4x a day), but, this could be a placebo effect. I would be very happy if it were FMD, which is not a neurodegenerative disease but more psychogenic in nature.
Reading the Wiki post on FND I'm thinking this fits me to a "T". But I have a positive DAT test which says I have PD. About the only test I haven't done is the skin biopsy for alpha sinucleon.
I bought Lilians online course. Found it helpful to stop freaking out about whatever the heck is wrong with me. No matter what, stress is the enemy. hopeshortcut.com/category/s...
