Vision symptoms in PD?

kaypeeoh profile image

Each morning I have crusts of dried mucous in both eyes. But much worse in my left eye, the same side that has PD signs like tremor. Is the eye condition typical of PD? I've been using Restasis eyedrops for several years to treat Dry Eye. But have been dealing with PD for less than one year. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

kpo

Likely a side effect of Restasis/Cyclosporine :

If that turns out to be the case you can consider this as a viable alternative:

Thanks for the note. But why is MaquiBright better than Restasis?

I never said MaquiBright was better than Restasis, you said that. I merely mentioned it solely in case your eye discharge, a known side effect of Restasis, turns out to be the cause of your crusting. Just an option for you to consider if you ever get tired of the eye crust every morning.

Just recently I have been diagnosed with chronic dry eye. A very uncomfortable, bothersome, painful condition , never had the discharge with it. The opthamologist prescribed drops for the dry eye. The drops never really did much of anything to help that condition. Perchance, on Amazon, I stumbled on a product from ocusoft called hypochlor. After reading the people's experience with it I bought some and it has really been a great help Another helpful idea is using an eye cup filled with warmed up, pretty warm saline solution and bathing your eyes in it. Pretty much back to normal, except for the dry e y e s that I manage as above.

I have dry eyes and blepharitis which is partly inflation of the eyelashes and lids that can just appears often as you get older. My husband also has blepharitis and the Ophthalmologist told him to clean the eyes with mild baby shampoo or blephasol an eyelid cleaner.

I use a mild eye solution for the dryness such as halo-forte or Thealoz duo. I m also advised to use Viscotears(without preservative), for night times. I ve also found a warm eye mask twice a day helpful for this problem.

I have tried some supplements but not sure they really help me.

I also have slightly dry eyes and always wake up with crustiness around my left eye (my affected side). I don't take any PD meds currently, and I don't use anything for the dry eye condition. This all started post-PD diagnosis. I purchased some Life Extension MaquiBright but haven't started taking it consistently yet.

I had an extreme case of dry eye for the last year which I am recovering from slowly. Currently using over the counter preservative free (PF) hydration eye drops. The non PF drops cause me excretion and crusting.

I'm starting my 2nd bottle of MacaiBright. Possible improvements.

Also trying Ocuphase with NAC (Amazon) which may help prevent cataract development.

I have not been diagnosed with Parkinson's. My husband has.

The Ocusoft Lid Cleaner noted by PDG above sounds promising and may be just the solution needed for me.

For those mentioning crustiness, an blepharitis, cleaning with regular dark blue bottle occusoft is very effective. The problem is your tears are too watery and so fail to lubricate. I use preservative free celuvisc

Edit. I have to use preservative free because of my corneal graft
