is there a medication or practice/procedure that can assist with urge incontinence? I was diagnosed with early onset PD 20 years ago and am now having to deal with this terrible “side effect.”

You might want to check these out with your doctor. I find these homeopathic bladder pills helpful. magnilife.com/product/magni...
Mirabegron 50mg once daily works for me .
Hi, I’m not sure if this will help. My husband took pumpkin seed oil capsules for the same issue and after a few weeks the urge seemed to vanish. He takes other natural supplements so it might not be entirely the pumpkin seed but interestingly my daughter has always had trouble and we’ve tried assorts so she started taking just one a day. After a month or so the issue had gone .
Could you tell us the brand your husband uses, and the daily amount? Thanks.
Hi, I’d recommend investigating PTNS if you can. I attribute it (18+ months on) to what feels like an 80-90% improvement in symptoms for me (I get up maybe once a night at most now compared to three/four times when things were bad). I even have a coffee a day again uclh.nhs.uk/application/fil... Some research exists somewhere on a small cohort trial with PwP and showed good results for some people.
I’m sorry, I can’t tell if you are male or female!! 🙃
For hubby he gets a regular bladder Botox injection which is helpful. It’s a minor procedure covered by insurance
If you are male, they make a condom catheter which is very helpful for travel or overnight especially.
Also if it is prostate related, you can ask your doctor about Terazosin, which also may have beneficial effects for PD.
We haven’t had much luck with any supplements but there may be something that would work for you.
Good luck!
Hi LeharLover, your post caught my eye. My HwP definitely could use a condom catheter at night. Can you please give me the name/brand of the one you use? we have tried Mens Liberty, but not with success in ease of use. Thank you!
Hi Loves sweets,
I have a couple of non medical solutions for you. Both work.
1. Cut down massively on sweets and caffeine.
2. Set an alarm for every 45 minutes and go to the bathroom and empty your bladder.
P.S. I have a sweet tooth the size of mount Everest 😩😋😭
If you cut down massively on sweets and caffeine then why do you still set an alarm for every 45 minutes? Just asking as i'm helping my mother with PD and related symptoms.
Godourtruehealer just a matter of precaution and training. We are naturally programmed to go to the bathroom when the urgent need occurrs and hold it when the bathroom is not accessible immediately. Parkinson's patients in general don't have the same luxury. I find it easier to manage my situation this way and after 12 years with the disease I find it to be the best way to manage urge incontinence.
Hope this helps.
Dear all, what would help my ex pd diagnosed. He sometimes needs to get up 5 to 6 times a night! Thank you in advanced ♡
Super Beta Prostate works over night for me, I've tried 4-5 RX meds which did not help at all. Haven't found anything that helps my daytime frequency. When I get frustrated, I got to go! With PD, EVERYTHING is frustrating.
Swanson's has 2 different Super Beta Prostate,
swansonvitamins.com/p/new-v...
and
swansonvitamins.com/p/new-v...
which one do you take?
I take the advanced formula (the bottom link). Compare price on Amazon. Give it 2-3 weeks to start working.
I take a multi Vitamin with minerals and a few other minerals. There is a lot of stuff in those. Makes me wonder if all I need is the Phytosterols (from Plant Sterols) and the Beta-Sitosterol which both treat benign prostatic... both are cheap.
try it, you can always switch to the complete formula, if you are not happy with Beta Sitosterol by itself.
I took Beta-Sitosterol for months. It worked great to prevent nighttime peeing. But then I developed gynecomastia. Beta-sitosterol is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, same as Proscar. Gyno is a recognized side effect. I stopped the beta-sitosterol and the swollen nipples subsided.
In men with BPH, 5ARIs significantly increased the risk of gynecomastia
