Accumulation of the biomarker p-syn in the skin distinguishes people with #Parkinsons from people with symptoms of parkinsonism due to other neurodegenerative disorders, reports a new #openaccess study by Giannoccaro et al. News release:

If someone had suggested this 15 years ago, we would have thought it was crazy. Now we are realizing that there is more to skin than meets the eye in #Parkinson disease.

After I saw your post and read the Journal entry I emailed my husband's Dermatologist to see if he could get this skin test. We have been to a neurologist, and she told us she thought he did have PD, and to come back in a year. I didn't wait a year, but have been following entries in Health Unlocked and have been trying to slow the progression. His strongest system is REM disorder. But it would be nice to know for sure, so if we can get a skin test to find out- why not? Thank you so much for posting this.
