Yes I tried it and unfortunately it did nothing but make my motility worse. I am going to a doctor at Mass General in March to have it looked at. I could only stay on that medication for less than 10 days and it wasn’t great. Mind you my heart was fine it’s just the other side effects were far worse.

domperidone lowers dopamine levels. Don't think that would be good for Parkinson's

Rita what were you prescribed it for? When you say it made your motility worse do you mean it increased your gut motility or decreased it? I’m not clear on the point you are making.

OK so I’ll tell you my story and hopefully this will make sense. I was on it for 10 days in the first four days my heart sort of skipped a few beats here and there throughout the day but nothing major in my EKG was completely clear before I started taking it. On the fifth day everything started to get really wonky with my motility and the problem of having more motility I have in my digestive track and stomach the more I shake to begin with which is been very cumbersome and confusing to any doctor I see because it’s truly not anything that I’ve ever read about or anybody on here or anywhere else that I know of that this happens to. Having said that on the ninth and 10th day of being on it I could not go to sleep and I was up for two straight days on top of it I was talking so fast that I believe I was having a manic period and my mind was thinking far too fast for my mouth to catch up. Mind you I do not have mental health issues and I am not on any mental health medication. Additionally medication such as this goes through the small intestine. By affecting the brain and the serotonin level in that way that this one can and obviously did for me. 95% of our serotonin levels go through the small intestine therefore that’s why most SSRIs go through that part of our body to get through to the brain. Needless to say, it did not work for me and I’m back to square one. Additionally I am seeing a colorectal person in February and I’m also seeing a Neuro Gastro Dysmotility Guy at Mass Gen in March. I hope that explains it. Thanks.

Sorry SailawayD,

No experience there, but would love to crack open a bottle of Dom Perignon... grab a glass and have a nice day.

Sailaway,You don’t say what you would take it for? In my country domperidone is used for nausea but i think it is banned in the USA. People often take domperidone as they adjust to levadopa medication. It is also used to counter the nausea people get when they begin apomorph. I use it with good effect, to increase my gut motility if I am constipated. As bone60 says it apparently lowers dopamine but I never noticed and there are very few anti nausea drugs we can take.
