Thanks for posting Marc, it s interesting many of the supplements suggested are frequently mentioned on this website, and my husband takes quite a few of them. Good information on drugs for PD and how they work together and interactions.

Thanks Marc. Seems this group is onto lots of these which is reassuring.

I’m interested they suggest a levodopa holiday for a week. (Pointing out the dangers so be aware of this before you try it).

Excellent summary. The sort of paper which could be very helpful for the newly diagnosed.

I also thought the section on Levodopa holidays was interesting. Obviously not without risk, although this isn’t quantified, if it could restore future Levodopa response that is beginning to fail, then that is a very worthwhile topic for debate/research.

Wonderful, thorough, if a bit overwhelming review. Thank you.

I have a problem, Houston. I had bookmarked this as a reference to come back to. It has been cited on my thread comparing attitudes to Covid vaccine with aversion to conventional medicine

This article strongly promotes the use of Simverstatin as an anti-inflammatory neuroprotective on the basis of "ground breaking new evidence" in an article with a publication date of 2021

The "new" evidence is from 2010

Simverstatin was trialled and failed in 2019. parkinsonsnewstoday.com/202...

I just got a red flag up. Don't even start @parkbear on this one

And then it promotes CoQ10... The dear departed CCL is your authority on this one but this articles interpretation of the results is diametrically opposite to most

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/278...

michaeljfox.org/news/coenzy...

It's one thing to disagree, but another to appear to be completely unaware of the material. This articles section on CoQ10 concludes by citing a 2008 animal study as "provide further evidence that administration of CoQ10 is a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Parkinson's disease."

Uninspired

🥺

I agree with you re Simverstatin and CoQ10. Keeping in mind, it's an article by a supplement manufacturer. I felt that overall, it's pretty good though. Do you feel an article that is this long, i.e., 98% of it's content is good should be disqualified because it missed the boat on these 2 items? (I suppose I should have noted my objections.)

I have raised these 2 issues with them. We'll see if they answer.

Marc

I think you're right. It's a compact comprehensive review and in that context very helpful. I think some of the detail bothers me, especially the way some were apparantly interpreting it
