Found a good functional medicine PD expert

MucunaParkinsons profile image

My sister has found someone to oversee her natural approach to her YOPD. He did a lot of interesting tests and found she had SIBO, giardia (?) amd low vitamin D. She feels a lot better and her mucuna works better.

My husband and I travel to Florida to see a functional doctor in Florida that has helped us. Dr Tanio at Rezilier Health. Look up his background and the things that his clinic does. He did all kinds of blood tests on my husband and found out that he had many toxins in his body. Several other blood tests to diagnose several issues. Digs deep into the root problem, not just throws medicine at him. Put him on supplements to get the toxins out of his body that could be contributing to his Parkinson's. Recommended EWOT therapy, Infrared sauna tent, WAHLS diet for brain health, continued certain supplements after he did his detox, High Dose thiamine,.. That's just what I can think of right now. If you're interested , it's best to look up this stuff I just mentioned, it's too important for me to try and explain it on here. This doctor is very into cutting edge therapies and works a lot on Alzheimer's as well. Hope this can help someone. My husband is 53, diagnosed with Parkinson's at 50.

Has your husband improved since working with Dr Tanio and following his recommendations? What is EWOT therapy? Do you mean HBOT?

Yes, his toxin numbers have gone down after retesting his blood work after the supplement detox. He also still works 10-12 hours a day and is functioning what I think is pretty good. As we all know there are so many ins and outs of dealing with Parkinson's. We try so many things, we don't know exactly what might be helping but you just try what you can... No I do not mean HBOT. EWOT is Exercise With Oxygen Therapy. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear in my first post. It basically consists of a mask you put on while you're exercising that is hooked to a generator/ concentrator. You are breathing in 100% oxygen that helps in many ways. Please look it up. It is beneficial but I just can't explain it in a post.

I fail to understand the usefulness of posting such important breakthroughs without a name or at least a lead. You leave people hanging with what purpose?

I went to see a naturopath in Australia, who sent me for several tests. Similar result. Apparently elevated mycotoxins and a nasty parasite. Prescribed a heap of supplements at great expense. Apparently these issues could be the underlying factor in my Parkinson's diagnosis. I have a healthy degree of scepticism.

My concern is that the naturopathic business model, whilst 'holistic', is increasingly underpinned by supplement revenue.

What's more, the mycotoxin supplements for elimination do not play well with other medications (Contraindications). This doesn't appear to be a concern or even on the radar for some practitioners.

Proceed with caution. There's no magic bullet.
