Important to note that it is bc of the volume and placement of the stem cell that it resulted in dyskinesia, not the stem cells themselves. Roger Barker has addressed this

So stem cell might not be the cure we hope. Why study into the pallidothalamic tract is important IMO

The problems with the original stem cell trials and dyskenesias among other problems are well known, and account for the disruption in the development of stem cell therapies. This is a good summary of the cases with dyskenesias and confirms the point I made previously , regarding macuna, about it being nothing to do with "synthetic" levadopa, and everything to do with the state of the disease progression and the supplementation of levadopa / dopamine in a system no longer able to manage it properly

Stem cells are a promising, but far from straight forward potential therapy. I enjoyed this light hearted (but still fairly "heavy") review of the subject - which references the dyskenesias
