Ok, so this is the drug loosing its effectiveness after long term use, probably over 10 years. There will be many people here who have had to adjust / increase their medication and timing /frequency because of this

I can only reference that late last year my hwp was put on L/C and the medication brought on more bad effects than he was when he started. In agreement with our neurologist, he stopped the medication. I was happy to find Mucuna in a powder form and at this time, my hwp has fared well. Neurologist is happy that hwp is on the Mucuna which is a natural form of Levodopa.

That’s great for him. I started on that in 2016 and by February of this year the vomiting and nausea was just too much to bear as I was constantly projectile vomiting. I’m glad your HWP found something he could use.

Thank you MssRita - exercise was the building foundation for hwp and as time passed, I learnt a lot of natural alternatives - finding the powder form of Mucuna has eased the concern of stopping the Prescription form. At this point hwp is having one level teaspoon in water morning and early evening. Wishing you well in your journey.

Organic traditions - Mucuna - Kapikacchu Powder (mucuna pruriens) I am able to purchase at Healthy Planet where I live in Ontario, Canada. There's a great company called National Nutrition that ships internationally nationalnutrition.ca

I just use homemade tincture of l-dopa from homegrown fava beans so don't know about resistance to the pharma. Just know sinemet doesn't help everyone and the fava beans do nothing for some people either. I believe it has something to do with why they have PD

Hi Aunt Bean! I wish I was able to grow homemade fava beans like you have in Tennessee! I live in New York and unfortunately our weather is not what I would think is ideal. Is there anyway to grow those inside?

I also know that both medications do not always fit for everyone. I’m just trying to find a balance ;)

New York would be fine for growing fava beans...they are a cool season crop and don't do well in the heat at all. I plant them in end of Feb or first of March here. They don't grow well indoors, sorry. Aunt Bean

I’ll definitely try next year! Do you recommend a book or information about how to grow them? I’ll check out your website too. Thx!

I don't have a website , but there is a site called neurotalk where you can go to Parkinsons and find my whole journey with the fava beans at Bean Acres Farm. Just search for Aunt Bean

Good luck, hope you can grow them. You can also try mucuna purines. Easy to find at health food stores because it is also an aphrodisiac. Actually, I read that any aphrodisiac helps dopamine production.

Hi Rita❤️ Levadopa makes me throw up, even taking the smallest dosage. So my neuro added extra carbidopa for the nausea. That caused my blood pressure to plummet, I passed out, cracked my head open, life flighted to hospital and spent next nine days in the trauma ICU. I won’t go near C/L. I only take Selegiline now. Dx was seven years ago. Probably have had it about ten years.

Well I’m hoping it can help me. The SE of Seleg are similar to Neupro so I’m hoping I can get some relief. The problem is everything that they’ve had me try so far is like a stimulant for my brain and my body and I feel like I’m doing the hundred meter dash every day all day and it’s almost as though I’m on AD HD medication. I’m super alert, concentration is great and super focused but the side effects after that are just awful.

Are you in England or the US?
