Tremor while the medicine takes it’s time

Hello all!

Does anyone have the experience of having tremors or having an off period after taking your medication and waiting for it to take affect? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Depends on time of day. Mornings are usually, but not always good. Afternoons takes a while to take effect. For me, most important is timing my meals. Usually takes 1/2 hour approximately to take effect.

You may need to move your doses closer together.

My own tremor is not well controlled as I get dyskinesia with too much LDopa but what works for me in a limited way is to take LDopa extended release just before going to bed as it both helps me sleep and means I wake up sort of ON and its no problem waiting for morning meds to kick in.

Hi Miss Rita, I get dyskinesia when Rytary wears off. And my feet cramp and it’s very uncomfortable. Anyway, like someone said you could talk about taking pills more frequently with your doctor (for some reason my doctor discouraged this.) or if it gets bad they could give you possibly an extender. So you would have more on time. I’m taking Gocovri. I take it at night and it does seem to help.

Amantadine? It’s works OK for me but it makes my legs and feet shake uncontrollably and I’m not sure if that’s normal. Ugh...

Oh no, that wouldn't work at all. I'm sorry. Maybe your doctor will let you decrease time between meds. Yes, G. is the extended version of Amantadine.

Sorry Miss Rita. My answer was a little bit backwards. I meant to say that yes it takes a while to kick in and symptoms seem to be worse. And that’s why I was talking about the extender type drugs; they sort of help on either end of your dosage if that makes sense.

yes, but for tremor I take Amantadine, B12, Avena Sativa, Cat's Claw & CBD Oil sometimes, plus daily exercise.

PS, I used to take Propranolol (a beta blocker), which really worked for me to control tremor whenever I needed it, but my feet and ankles swelled up a lot suggestive of a heart problem, so I quit that.

I believe that amantadine makes your feet swell.

I’ve read that a lot on this topic and I think I’m like the only one that I know that does not experience at all. It actually does the exact opposite to me. It makes me far more hyper, and my feet are extremely thin with it and I don’t retain any fluid. The oddest thing I tell you.

What brand of cats claw do you take? Also is it by tea or by capsule or tincture? I tried the propranolol a long time ago and it gave me severe, severe depression within two days and it really affected me quite quickly. It also made me extremely lethargic and I could barely get out of bed. No swelling of the feet though.

Because of tremor I started with propranolol three years ago. It didn't help so I went to Sinemet. It didn't help so I tried amantadine and ropinirole. Nothing helped so I had Botox one week ago. SO far it hasn't helped.

What about medicinal cannabis? I do not have personal experience with this but it was recommended to my Dad so many times. He refused to try it though.

Oddly enough I have a medical cannabis card where I live and no matter what kind I take whether it’s Vape tincture or pill or anything like that it typically makes me extremely high and actually makes the tremors worse so figure that one out LOL 😂

Oh, I’m so sad to hear that. And confused too! I know each case is different but hopefully someone can speak up with advice on that.

There is a YouTube video from MJF with a MJF speaking out basically against cannabis. The comment section is a chorus of people telling her she is wrong and some say what they use.
