PWP with Chest pain/tightness

Any PWP experiences having middle chest tightness and/or pain (more muscle related) that resulted in difficulty in lifting/raising your arms up or splitting a pancake with a fork and spoon using both hands or pulling my pants or shorts up? If yes, any suggestions how to treat it?

Currently just started with high dosage thiamine on 2g a day to see whether it help before consider naltrexone.

I realized chest pain does not usually associated with Parkinson’s as it could be due to many other factors. I have seen both heart and neuroscience specialists without any conclusion. Paracetamol with muscle relaxers do not seem to help.

Good you have ruled out cardiac issues. Lots of muscles wrap around the chest and ribs allowing for intercostal muscle pulls, strains, tears. Another common cause of chest pain worsened with movement is costochondritis In which the cartilage between the ribs get inflamed. Another possibility could be a nerve entrapment in your neck referring pain to your chest. These issues can be treated usually with antinflammatories or short dose steroid or injection or physical therapy. Seeing an orthopedic doc may be helpful.

I am having some restriction of my lungs capacity , but have not had it measured since my open heart work, but I know when my Ht. rate is elevated and I am breathing harder than usual while dog walking. My home cure is to breath in normally and then keep on inhaling, while sticking my chest out, till I physically can not take in any more air. I do about 3 repeats , standing still or walking at a slower pace, I lift my chest by arching my back, ( at military attention?) and feel my Ht. rate dropping.

I have had this stiff rib cage which I can also blame on a 1968 car accident where one side had cracked ribs and the other side had some broken. I played Water Polo for 15+years in my 30's and 40's as well as cross country skiing in the winter. After that I kept on lane with swimming , till the present. That kept me quite limber, then the early stiffness of PD came before the actual diagnosis.

I go to an Acupuncturist and a Licensed Massage Therapist that has also taken Osteopathic Training and regularly have my ribs 'loosened up' along with a lot of other stiffness.

If you are still able to walk at least a mile per day, do it every day!, as fast as you can. More if you can. A young pup is great incentive. I would recommend finding a good Massage Therapist after you have seen your DR and hunt out an Acupuncturist that is well trained in whole body work (some are specialized to 'Pain Control etc).

I have chest tightness quite frequently, mostly from head down position too much from reading, etc. Neck muscles tighten up, chest muscles all the way to last rib tighten up. I have trouble swallowing, getting food to go down, sometimes just sits there. I sometimes also have trouble breathing or feeling like palpitations, but not, more like racing. Have been able to relieve issues with heat, massage, essential oils and Trigger point release in the tight muscles, sometimes taking Advil. Lower rib cage Trigger points can make it feel like heart issues, and breathing, higher up is digestion. If you look up trigger points chest you will see they are all over the muscles and can effect into the arms and shoulders, can even feel like upper back pain.
