How long does it take Madopa to start being affective? I've just started on 62.5mg dose yesterday

It usually kicks in within the hour. Everyone is different, but with most people Madapor kicks in within the hour. Most have to watch their protein intake so don't eat protein for 1/2 hour to an hour after you take your meds and if you take your meds first, wait an hour before you eat protein. A lot of people eat most of their protein with their last meal of the day. I have noticed if I eat too much at one sitting my meds don't work as well.

I did a search & found this that explains a lot....

Thanks, I've been taking 3 tablets per day for the last two days and tremor is still there

So you are taking 3 x 62.5 caps day. That works out as 150mg levodopa (50/12.5 x 3) day. You may not yet have reached a therapeutic dose or your tremor may not be responsive to levodopa.

That makes sense... My neuro said if current dose has no effect by 4th week double the tablets

Can you check whether the 62.5 mg dose is levodopa or benserazide? They are normally at a ratio of 4:1. If you give a single value it is normally the levodopa value that is given. But, the 62.5 dose suggests 250 mg levodopa/ 62.5 mg benserazide.

I started on one, three times a day, then slowly increased the dose of 25/100, but no benefit until I got to ,two, four times a day. I have been on three, four times a day with good effect now for six months. No side effects.

Weigh 230 lbs, which is relevant.

Taking NO supplements at all, and I eat a whatever I enjoy

Thanks, I weigh 145 lbs... I may need to increase dosage as current 1 tab 3 times per day of 50/12.5 doesn't seem to have any affect

You must take advice from your health professional, not from a website.

I was advised to go to four times a day, then increase by one tablet a day, every week
