How much HDT
Yes, that's what I take. Start with one tablet a day. Put it under your tongue and let it dissolve and enter the bloodstream through the skin. It has a bitter liquorice taste which you get used to by day four or five, so keep it well under the tongue!
Hi, I have been looking into B1 for my hubby (only just diagnosed with PD) and I am so glad I came across this post. I was just wondering if you 'Start with one tablet a day' … how long do you keep this dosage up for and do you increase the dose after a number of weeks. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you
I started on one tablet under the tongue a day. I continued for six months on that dose and slowly saw more energy, less rigidity, better sense of smell. As I became hyper and anxious a year ago, I reduced my dose to 4 tablets a week on Sat, Sun, Tues and Thurs. if your husband has only just been diagnosed I wouldn't think he would need more than one a day. Just watch for signs that it is too high, but it seems a good place to start. Give it time too. Sometimes improvements are subtle. I began them in 2017 and still feel that I'm very slightly continuing to improve. Some people have found, like me, that as you improve you start to need less but wait for signs of anxiety or the body over running. If you reduce by too much too soon you are met by feelings of tiredness.
Thank you so much for the reply, I feel that everything I look at, at the moment is a mine field. But what you have just told me is very encouraging as trying to find a starting does to everything seems to be a bit of a nightmare, but then, I am only at the beginning of my research. May I ask, are you also taking B12? Everything I have researched so far indicates that it may slow down PD progressing? The hubby was diagnose with mild symptoms and has a tremor in his right hand, we thought it was a trapped nerve! He has suffered from a stiff hip for a while and has had therapy from an osteopath. I think that this now is also part and parcel of PD. Thank you again for your help, I will have to go on line and find where I can purchase this tablet.
I'm not taking B12. I just take B1 four times a week and a B-complex three times a week. I've not heard that it's been found to slow PDs progress. B1 on the other hand improves symptoms. My suggestion is that you trial one thing at a time or you'll get confused! We've all done it!
I thought I had a trapped nerve too before my diagnosis too!
You can buy B1 from evitamins.com/uk/s/search?k...
Good luck to your husband on his PD journey. The most important thing for him to do is exercise. Aim to work up to 40-45 minutes x3 a week at an 8-out-of-10 effort. He needs to raise his heartbeat to about 80% of maximum. I take mine up to 135 bpm and I'm 71 but for me 120 bpm would also be ok. I just get carried away!!
Thank you for your reply and it certainly makes sense. Strange how you too thought you had a trapped nerve.
Again thank you for the link to the B1.
May I ask what B-complex you are taking.
I have been reading up on the exercise to and you do so well at taking your up to 135bpm.
Look forward to hearing from you
