HDT 1st 25 days

Hi everyone! I was asked to post my HDT experience via this link so if you heard this before my apologies it wouldn't be the first time I repeated myself. LOL

My first 2 weeks doctor C recommended 1 gram in the morning and see how I do. I felt good enough after two weeks to double my dose to 2 grams, 1 in the morning and the other around 1:30 Pm. I'm taking it orally 500 milligram tablets. Here are some of the excellent results i have noticed:

1. The up and down brain fog I would often get using mucuna usually beginning around the 3rd hour has gone away. I was beginning to dread taking the mucuna now everything's much better. More up time!

2. My energy level and overall drive and passion have come back.

3. Mike core is better allowing me to move in bed easier.

4. I feel more calm

5. The shaking and uneasy feeling I had in my jaw has subsided not 100% but perhaps 75%.

6. Constipation has gone away

7. The hand and finger movement that seems common amongst pwps has gone away.

8. Facial expressions seem a little more normal.

The only negative experience I've had and it seems to be getting better is I feel a little more amped up at bedtime. Last couple of nights have been better. I've had Parkinson's for roughly 11 years. The last couple of years I've been on mucuna only usually three doses a day 4 hour intervals 1.1 grams per dose (3/8 teaspoon)

Thank you everyone for your support!!!

Steven

Even though i am strong believer in HDT and it has worked positively for me, I have to tell you that the first 2 weeks maybe placebo effect. You have to continue and sustain the positive effect for months to be sure of the benefits

Note i'm not saying you won't get the positive benefits eventually, i'm only saying not after just 2 weeks, particularly considering you've had PD for 11 years

Most of the improvements reported by Steven concern non-motor symptoms that appear to be not subject to placebo effect.

Good to know? Thank you! I'm only reporting what I am experiencing. Mucuna and B1 seem to work well together. I'll save all the science for the rest of you guys just don't kill me. Making myself laugh today might have to make an adjustment to my protocol. Thanks Steven

I am interested in the science, your protocol, benefits....where do you buy your product (s)?

Hello! Not sure I'm your science guy or exactly what you're looking for but at the moment I'm only taking two things. Mucuna was my choice as a natural alternative to levodopa. The other is b1 which I started about 30 days ago. Mucuna requires disciplined routine meaning it's much more effective on an empty stomach. It allows mucuna (l-dopa) to cross my blood-brain barrier reaching my central nervous system without competing with other proteins. I source mucuna from nutrivitashop.com it's in bulk powder form. I believe they claim approximately 96% l-dopa. As soon as the mucuna kicks in approximately 30 minutes I'm eating. It gives me roughly three hours of not eating before my next dose. The B1(500mg capsules) I buy from vitacost.com recommended here. I'm only using B1 for approximately 30 days which I learned off from this forum. Search HDT high dose thiamine on this site and you'll find all the science you'll need. I hope this helps! Steven

What mean you by "if gives me 3 hours of not eating"

Stevenmast profile image
Stevenmast in reply to Icequeen10

What I meant is mucuna works best on an empty stomach. If you take it every 4 hours like I do three times a day eat right after the mucuna kicks in which will be in your first 30 minutes or so. Now your body has 3 -31/2 hours to digest the food you ate before your next dose.

Hi Steven,

I use the Nutra Vita brand of l-dopa and as much as I like it when I take it on an empty stomach I get nauseous and I tend to vomit more. Did you have that experience? If so, what have you used for the nausea? I typically take 1/8 of a teaspoon in the morning and then I usually take another eighth of a teaspoon in the afternoon but it takes longer for my body to observe it by the afternoon and the evening.

Thx.

Rita

Sorry it took me a few days to respond It's been a tough couple of weeks over here. Vomiting is definitely not what your looking for! I have never experienced vomiting nauseous yes. I need to ask a couple of questions. How long have you had parkinson's and what are your symptoms. Are you on any other medication? Try having a few crackers 10 minutes before your dose like saltines and see if that helps. Are you a coffee drinker and what are you taking the mucuna with? I suspect your afternoon and late evening problem maybe what you are eating before hand like protein. For me, rule of thumb dose 1st eat 2nd. Whenever I eat 1st the mucuna NEVER works as well.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me. I’ve actually started to eat less I know it sounds odd and I’m not starving myself but what I have started to do now is in the mornings I take my thyroid medication and then I take the 1/8 teaspoon of MUCUNA and then I wait for a little bit until I actually have some thing to drink. Oddly enough I’ve been having coffee after I’ve taken my dose and I can go 6-7 hours without eating and be fine and don’t have any jitters not even get nervous from the coffee which is very odd. I have been eating crackers after I take my dose and it has worked out quite well and I did it out of curiosity to see if it would work and it actually did. I haven’t thrown up in the last week which makes me feel better.

I started having tremors in 2015 but oddly enough my diagnosis has not progressed and I know that’s a good thing but also a frustrating thing because my neurologist seems to be very confused as to why I have not progressed. He gave me a diagnosis of mild Parkinson’s and I don’t know if there’s such a thing as that or not. The one issue I do have is that whatever it is going on for me I am struggling with my stomach and Gastro intestinal track. Had a barium swallow a couple of months ago and my swallowing is completely fine I don’t choke and there’s no restrictions there. I think what I’m going through is possibly gastroparesis and if not definitely a motility issue with the gastrointestinal. Additionally, when I have any kind of gas or any kind of movement digestives that’s when the tremors start or get worse.

So basically what I do is I take my medication in the morning, my 1/8 teaspoon, A coffee and then I wait many hours to eat because I’m always afraid if I start eating I’m going to start tremoring again and that seems to be the issue, when I eat I tremor so I don’t eat as much during the day and I have been told that Parkinson’s patients actually do really well with calorie restriction. Your thoughts?

Why don't you try mixing your mucuna in your coffee? It should only take about 30 minutes for the mucuna to kick in. If you eat 1 hour after your dose that would give you 3 hours of digestion before your next dose providing you dose every 4 hours. Keep it light during the day while you're dosing and save your larger meals for dinner. That's sad, if it's working for you leave it alone!

You are brilliant! LOL I never even thought about that. I will try that!

Just don't mix with milk it has too much protein per cup you can try a nut milk or no protein creamer works well

Yes agreed. I have been drinking almond milk for quite some time and it is quite good.

Thanks for the buzzkill! LOL I can only hope you're wrong but I do understand your point. The only thing I would add is I've been doing B1 for 30 days and having to write contracts at work on a daily basis I'm pretty in touch with my symptoms. Might I add I'm writing this from the bathroom... if the latter is all I get I would be happy!

I was saying to Grumpy77 it’s not a good plan to mention placebo if it’s working, as it might stop it working!

Though it sounds to me like it’s working for real which is great. Keep us posted.😎

You're right! Staying positive is half the battle. That said, I welcome all the all feedback that's what this is all about. Thanks!
