And should we be worried about supply with Coronavirus?
Just wondering what might run out eg pharmaceuticals and vitamins and food that I am relying on. I’ve stocked up on food and cleaning products just in case but what other things should I have a supply of that might have components that come from china?

So many components of most items we rely on are made in China, even if the end product is not. The barcode is no help in this instance. It could be the rubber ring in a locally made glass jar, or a screw or basically anything. If the Coronavirus does not get under control soon, the whole world will be in chaos. It is hard to imagine. It is time to stock up on everything, food, meds etc. We are only 7 days away from a crisis at any time.
Yes I am worrying about this. In New Zealand we are remote which makes it easier to cut off source, but we rely heavily on imports. Luckily we have lots of fresh produce, but it is chaos for our exporters who rely on China as a major trading partner. The logs are piling up on the wharves and people are being laid off.
Also most of our pharmaceuticals are made offshore so you wouldn’t want to run out of those if reliant on them. I would suggest it is prudent to get to the doctor and get a prescription for as much of everything you need as they can give you. After all it should last years and it’s not a waste if you will use it all eventually anyway. Also buy a large amount of long lasting foods like rice (I have 2 x 25 kg bags) , dried beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, oats and canned foods etc and store them away. If you buy more for every day use rotate and use the older ones first so you keep the stocks up. And pet food!
No I’m not a doomsdayer, but I have kids to feed, a boy with asthma( renewed his inhaler) and a cat and dog fur baby and I don’t want to run out of food for them if we get told to isolate. And if all the food from China stops coming in the supermarkets will be half empty and although I don’t buy food from China it will leave half as much food to feed everyone who normally does!
You are so right! Yes, we are doing all of the above. Dr appointment tomorrow and if it ever rains again...🙄 we will plant veges. Govt will definately not want to alert to the severity of the problem until it is a real problem. As I said it is only 7 days between normality and chaos. Best be prepared. As it is hand sanitizer and plastic gloves are sold out everywhere.
I asked Vitacost where their vitamins were manufactured, years ago. They said in the US. I, unfortunately measured out 750 mg of tyrosine and it came up short, only 715 mg. Solgar is a good source for B1.
