Ambroxol is designed to ease coughing by clearing away mucus in the lungs.
Study found drug increased levels of protein called glucocerebrosidase (GCase).
GCase helps to remove waste in cells, a function lacking in Parkinson's sufferers.

It happens that I visited a nurse practitioner today about a terrible cough that won't quit. It's a dry cough and those of us taking MAO inhibitors (selegiline in my case) cannot use products containing dextromethorphan or phenylephrine , staples of OTC cough medicines in the US. I asked about ambroxol and she said that it's not FDA approved in the US.
You could try a plain Mucinex, that has no additives in it. It's very well tolerated it might help. It's means no expectorant or a decongestant added to it
