Amantadine dosage recommendations

Is anyone Taking C/L as well as Amantadine? How do you take them together relative to dosage and timing? I am working with my Neuro on some sort of combination that will balance the Dykenesia and tremors and I am looking for a starting point that works so I can avoid some early experimentation.

Amantadine is kinda strange when it comes to doses .

I take six doses of Leva dopa a day but I take the amantadine 3 pills a day , one each in the first three 3 doses 7am 11 am and 3 pm .I have done this for many many years. I asked my Neuro why and he said that the amantadine did not wear off like the Levadopa

Hi !

My schedule looks like this :

8 am : 2 ext rls c/l 25-100 ea

1/2 immediate rls c/l 25-100

10 am 1/2 imm rls c/l 25-100

12:00 pm 1 ext rls c/l 25-100 ea

1/2 immediate rls c/l 25-100

1 amantadine 100 mg

So after the first a.m. dose I take one each of the er & ir c/l and 1 amantadine every 4 hours

I’m sensitive to the c/l

Amantadine has helped with dyskinesias.

. In the middle of the night if I wake up and feel I need some medicine I’ll take an amantadine…

A new ext release Amantadine is on the market… it’s just not in every day pharmacies yet.

I take mine in the morning aftery first dose of sinet according to the neuro it can cause insomnia

To help visualize what is going on when you take multiple doses of different drugs in a day, you may use:

You input the drug, the time and the dose for each of the medications that you take, and the app draws a graph showing how the levodopa equivalent concentration varies through the day.

The important point about amantadine is that it has a much longer half-life than carbidopa/levodopa, about 800 minutes v 90 minutes. I don't know whether the anti-dyskinesia properties are simply due to the reduction in the variability of the levodopa equivalent concentration (which is thought to cause LID) or by some other method.

Hi. My husband doesn’t have any tremors only gait freezing….he takes it with his dopamine in the morning around 7 ish and then again lunchtime. It does seem to be helping his gait freezing…

I take amantadine half an hour before levodopa then it’s in the system to prevent dyskinesia. I’m only on 2 amantadine and 3 levodopa so it’s

8.00 amantadine

8.30 levodopa

12.00 amantadine

12.30 levodopa

5.00 levodopa

This was recommended by my neurologist

I take levodopa 25/100 at 8:30 am with 1/2 amantadine tablet. Again at 3:00 1 levodapa 25/100 and 1/2 amantadine tablet.
