I always feel like Fred is fighting the inevitable, having to eventually take the needed dose of medications in order to have reasonable control of of his symptoms! He tries a lot of positive thinking approaches, exercises and breathing techniques through multiple years and this is where he is, on medications now, but still trying to decrease them with little luck. It sounds like a delayed or controlled release C/L product may be of use to him at this time, but it doesn't look like you can post on his blog.

I previously asked him if he wanted to join HU and perhaps consider testing HDT/B-1, but he declined on both counts. I look at his journey and simply do not understand his line of thinking. His journey has been many years of a lot of positive thinking approaches that have for the most part failed him over time and now he is on standard medication anyway! What was the point of wasting so many years on alternative ideas that simply did not work out for him in the long run and suffer through symptoms that could have been at least partially alleviated or better? His latest entry says as much because he talks about what an improvement the CL has made for him. I get wanting to use a more natural approach to fighting PD, but a reality check may have been long over due. His disease is progressing despite his best efforts to deal with it the way he has. What if he was a responder to HDT and had tried it two or three years ago or even now?

You are absolutely right. And I think some of his symptoms are due to reduction in C / L And he seems to think that C / L is the cause of it. I guess everybody travels at their own pace and on their own Road. Mary

I have seen many on this quest. Their difference , their notoriety is that they are going to beat PD with out medication . In the beginning they are able by fast walking or many types of exercise and fresh air and good diet to stay off the medicine but slowly they get worse. They are supported and urged on by fellows with the same people who are eager to take on any new fad if it sounds like it is back to nature. ( vegetable hamburgers made from extreme cholesterol coconut oil )

If they had taken the medication and ALSO done the program (exercise etc) at the same time they would not have had to endure the symptoms. I have never understood why. I know of no study report ever that indicated that the Levadopaa/Carbadopa in any way made PD onset faster or worse. I know of no study that showed that delaying the taking of sinimet accomplished anything and I know of several studies that said that taking CD/LD as soon as it helped was beneficial. So I ask them , why ? Do you get more points on your hero / martyrs card ? Why not just walk the streets chanting ,hitting your self in the face with a bible.
