I am looking for it in Italy but it doesn't seem distributed. I'm using Benerva 300 mg.

HI Fed,

I buy it in the web: google.com/search?rlz=1CDGO...

Thanks Giocas, some questions for you: how much B1 do you take, how long and how are you? Do you take Levodopa and other supplements? I started B1 from about 10 days with 1gr. daily. Is it possible in your opinion that B1 at high doses causes anal inflammation? Good things.

Hi Fed,

I did 2 b1 HCL injection intramuscolar for 4 years under medical prescription. How do i go??? I am quite stable, but those who know for sure given the PD's so slow progress even in Bristol have failed to establish it with the NGNF. It would seem there are “responding” and “ non-responding “, but time will tell. I think I am doing very well, but I would not like to awaken the super precision of the Web. When I'm on vacation, I use 1.5g solgar pills in a single shot at breakfast with food and Madopar, but everyone finds his ideal dose with the experience. For the side effects just stop taking it for a few days and everything comes back quickly. This is my experience, I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to give advice on dosages.

That's the brand I have been taking since May, 2018, within 3 weeks of being diagnosed. I began with 3 grams (6 tablets) per day, but since approximately October, I have been taking 1.5 grams (3 tablets) per day. Good luck!

Choked on tablets. Using easy swallow capsules.

Yes I used them for a year and 6 mos. Honestly I think they are stronger than the vitacost with the same dosage. The solgar tablets are much heavier and harder to swallow than the vitacost capsules. I got an irritated stomach and ended up with appendicitis. I can't be sure that the vit B had anything to do with it. But I finally found the vitacost vit b1 500 mg and am fine with 3000 mg daily. I'll increase it to 4000 slowly. Anybody else think the vit B hcl 500 mg caused stomach irritation? I feel if it helps to slow progression of my PD It's worth trying.

I usually take b 1 tab Now brand 5/100 mg tabs after food, but one day I took on empty stomach with other vitamins ( Magnesium glycinate, ashwagandha, and green tea, I felt nauseous, and got sick. I felt sick all day with stomach cramps for 3 days/ burning in stomach. I stopped taking vitamins for a week. Felt better and took b1 after food, all good. I tried b1 on empty stomach by itself, burning, cramping for 4 days, with water and food. I feel fine as long as I take with food. It must be the HCI (hydrochloric acid) . I took betaine with HCI for digestion my stomach felt weird and gave me heartburn.

I have these, found them very hard to swallow as they are very large and dry. Found capsules much easier but decided to use up the tablets and discovered that if i dip them in butter they go down much easier. Take 500g a day without much conviction that they have any effect.

Yes, I've used them for several months, they're good value. Keep taking the tablets!

My husband has used this product. The only problem is the size of them! We had to cut them in half but they get still stuck! We found some on Amazon called G and G 500mg which are capsules and easier to swallow!

Hi I use these, the only drawback is as I have a swallowing problem and I have to chew them to get them down and they are extremely bitter. But other then that I find they appear to work fine.

ion_ion suggests chewing them with dark chocolate. Good idea.

I take 3 a day gulped down with avocado or water (- or butter now, thanks ratzkywatzky!)

I don’t take any meds and just hope the B1 assists...

Interesting.. Why with avocado?

2bats profile image

I blend an avocado with a couple of raw eggs, MCT oil, garlic, ginger and salt - a great Keto-smoothie which overcomes the tablet swallowing issue!

I am using easy swallow capsules from Vitacost. Much better than Solgar tablets.

As others have mentioned, the Vitacost capsules are much easier to swallow and don't taste like (I'm sorry, I can't think of a publicly acceptable way to describe the taste, though squirrel pee comes to mind). Interesting that I've never seen any mention of B1 pee. My nose hasn't worked in years, but my pee (on 4 grams/day) will make my eyes water. My wife has emphatically confirmed this! I do think the B1 is helping, though. I am back to a normal arm swing.

Yes I use them. I can't tolerate too much B1 so I take them every couple of days as well as 250mg tablets intermittently.

Hi I use Solgars B1 . In New Zealand this is a very well respected brand. I found 500mg too much for me but 100mg seems to reduce my stiffness and reduce marginally my tremor in my left arm. Too much at 500mg seems to increase my tremor. Also found I can't drink coffee full strength and take 100mg b1. So doing decafe coffee! So upshot I take B1 on waking 100mg daily. I am not any medication at all.

My husband uses both Vitacost brand of B1 (500mg), and the Solgar brand B1 (100 mg). He takes 3.4 grams a day (six 500 mg and four 100 mg). With a lot of patience, trial and error, we've settled on this dosage. He seems to do well on it. Vitacost was cheaper, but did not have B1 in 100mg doses. From what I've read from others, Solgar is a very good brand also.

My husband took Solgar B1 but they are definitely large and even cutting in half produced sharp edges!

Found a make on Amazon Uk that is 500 mg and in capsules by G&G made in Uk and easy to swallow and reasonable price!
