Diagnosed 2012
My regimen:
The positives: no bradykinesia, I cut my food with a knife, no button difficulties, brush my teeth now w/o needing elect brush, more strength. Getting in and out of bed, turning over is easier. No more constipation. Parkinson's progression stopped. Suppressed all motor and non-motor symptoms...
Entering my 7th year post diagnosis and have not fallen, not once, to the surprise of my neuro. Was seeing neuro every 6th month, last visit he set app one year. He said if needed we could do some changes earlier. He said my condition can change in as little time as one week.
New schedule, now I follow this regimen:
3 x day C/L 50-200 ER : 8 am, 2 pm, 8 pm. Because it is ER, I take with or w/o food.
2 x day (8 am 2g, and 2 pm 2g) Vitacost vitamin B1 (as thiamine HCL) 500mg, easy swallow capsules
B1 Thiamine therapy reference / stop progression, suppress motor and non-motor symptoms:
(Thiamine HCL is oral substitute to injecting B1) 2 x day (morning 2g and at lunch 2g)
Doctor Costantini strategy that I find helpful "thiamine hcl stops the progression forever...".
Thank you. I will work up to that dosage and thanks for the 2pm. What is the negative affects of taking it later?
In rare occasions evening dose cause sleep issue.
Yes, Roy. I took it about 3:30 one afternoon and was basically up all night. I knew that was a possibility at the time. Now I have an alarm set at 1:30.
Don't be surprised if 4 grams per day proves to be too much. Many of us, including me, have found our ideal dose to be much less. I think it depends upon how long you have had PD, how intense your symptoms are, and your weight, among other things. I was diagnosed last May and have very mild symptoms. Under Dr. Costantini's advice, I have happily settled at 1.5 grams per day. Good luck!
1.5 twice daily has not proven effective for constipation.
What are the indications of the dosage being too much?
Have you tried Mannitol. A spoonful in coffee every morning keeps one as regular as clockwork
Here’s a few, Equilibrium correction, voice tone and deflection normalization. swallowing confidence, better overall movement.
Eliminates limb pain, constipation relief. Good energy level.

Hey Art,
Could you give me the link to the B1 treatment diary? I'm talking about the page where loads of people are describing and tracking their dosage and symptoms.
I think it's high time I make my entry. I'd also like to review other people's experiences.
What are the signs/symptoms of too high a dosage of B1/HCL?
Is diarrhea a sign?
Oral HDT was not well tolerated by my GI tract so I went to bi-weekly 100mg IM injections. About six weeks in, no problems with the injections, and significant symptom improvement, both motor and non-motor.
Good to know.
