ruff1, How do you ingest it. I've heard that it's unpalatable.

It’s for my husband , I put it into Ribena just a small glass quite strong make it up with water then refrigerate it, he has it when he gets up ( empty stomach) about 4-5 am and then another glass around 3pm . He’s only been on it about 3 weeks, he started by having capsules but he couldn’t swallow them very well so I contacted Dr Costantini and asked if it was ok to tip the powder from the capsules into juice, he said yes as long as it wasn’t orange, lemon, pineapple or grapefruit. I then sent for the bulk powder - thought it would be easier. I have found out through trial and error that when I tip the contents of 4 x500mg capsules out , it dies not weigh 2g about 1.75g . I have noticed that John is turning over more easily at night and doesn’t need me to help him get up in the night. His wearing off in between doses doesn’t seem as bad either 😀

Thanks. Ribena was a new name to me. According to Wikipedia, it seems to have lost its reputation as a healthful drink:

"Ribena (/raɪˈbiːnə/ rye-BEE-nə) is an English-origin brand of blackcurrant-based uncarbonated and carbonated soft drink and fruit drink concentrate that until 2013 was produced by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).

The brand originally had a strong reputation as a healthy product for children, stemming from its distribution to children as a vitamin C supplement during World War II by the British government. Beecham (a company that has been part of GSK since 2000) bought the brand in 1955 and developed many soft drink versions. A series of scandals in the 2000s, concerning vitamin C levels, sugar levels, and the amounts of actual fruit in some of the brands, damaged its reputation as a healthy product. By 2013 the brand was widely seen as being similar to other soft drinks.[1]"

He doesn’t take it in Ribena fir health reasons just because it’s very strong tasting . He doesn’t need to worry about too much sugar he eats really well - I make everything from scratch and only weighs 67 Kg and is 185cm tall . What country are you from ? 😀

Might I suggest Grape juice as an alternative.

Ruff1, I am living in the middle of the USA, in Nebraska.

Wow, at 6ft 1in., and 147 lbs, your hubby is as skinny as a rail. Is this the result of sickness? He's lucky to have such a dedicated helpmate as you! As a bachelor, I lived out of tin cans till I met my wife, who is a good cook.

Hehe yes he is thin but has really good core strength and upper body strength. He runs 10K/half marathon, plays golf 4x a week, Pilates and gym work 5 times a week , like revolves around exercise 😀

Theyakin, According to the Holland & Barrett website ( hollandandbarrett.com/shop/... ), the bottle shown in your photo contains Thiamin Mononitrate--not Dr. Costantini's recommended form, Thiamin HCL. Besides, RoyProp recently posted the following warning about Thiamin Mononitrate:

livestrong.com/article/3132...

"Thiamine mononitrate is synthetic and has the potential to illicit mild to severe allergic reactions.

The nitrates present in thiamine mononitrate may accumulate in the kidneys and induce kidney stones or cellular death. The University of Maryland Medical Center indicates that B vitamins are all required for optimal health of the liver, skin, eyes, hair and nervous system. Since thiamine is water-soluble, the body typically expels any excess to prevent most side effects. However, thiamine mononitrate is fat-soluble, meaning the body has more difficulty expelling any excess. Anyone with a pre-existing condition has the risk of retaining excess thiamine, which may cause potential side effects."
