Although it technically won't cure PD, I'll be overjoyed if this leads to a 30 year supply of dopaminergic neurons.

Exactly - a refill of DA neurons (to restart the 20-30-year window of decline) should allow adequate time to sort out the misfolding a-syn issue at the heart of the problem. :D

Big hope for fixing a core aspect. Stop the "disease process" is the other main part. Replace the dopamine neurons to restore smooth movement - get that guitar vibrato back!! Drugs like exanatide or the Monoclonal antibody I am about to trial might then stop the diseases process and protect the new neurons. (Or maybe develoments in microbiome management might also improve neuroprotection) Just need someone to develop some neurons to restore my sense of smell and job done :-)

Any idea how the stem cells are delivered to the brain? Does this treatment involve a surgical implant?

Yes, your reprogrammed skin cells (from skin to DA neurons) are surgically transplanted into the substantia nigra. Eligibility for participation is generally determined by confirmed response to dopaminergic meds like C/L.
