Parkinson's and rosacea ? B1 and rosacea ?

Hi everybody,

Since a few weeks I developed rosacea (red rashes on the face, usually around the mouth). I discovered through Google that it can be a precursor for PD, and also due to overdosing group B vitamins.

Does anyone had the same experience ?

I am taking B1 since February this year (7 months) and was diagnosed PD 2.5 years ago.

Thank you for caring.

Xenos,

On the thiamine FAQ page at question #21, it says it is possible to get a rash, but it does not specifically say roascea. Is that an actual diagnosis or just what you think it is? In any case, it seems that it would be worth it for you to contact Dr. Costantini to ask his opinion.

Hi Art,

It was told me by my GP. I did not even know the word "rosacea" before.

Looks as if it's yet another PD symptoms.

I will follow your advice and just mention it in my next mail to Dr Costantini. I do not want to bother him unnecessarily.

I fully get what you are saying, but I am 100% certain that Dr. C is more interested in you obtaining the best results possible....even if it means that you have to write him extra times toward that end!

I've had mild rosacea for years. It manifests as cheek flushing. I have been taking B1 since about the same time as you and have not experienced any worsening of rosacea.

Thank you JulieGrace.

Reading your testimony, I think that rosacea might be a precursor sign of PD, without relation with high dose B1.

I've had mild rosacea for about 30 yrs & was diagnosed with PD 14 yrs ago but I'm not taking a high dose of B vitamins (yet).

Thanks Laglag. Will you start B1 ?

I'm thinking seriously about it but the high dose scares me and, right now my dad is ill & I've been trying to take care of him so I don't want to take a chance of the symptoms getting worse before they get better.

It makes sense... But no spectacular worsening under thiamine has ever been recorded so far.

And you have the right to also take care of yourself...

Stop taking B1 for 2 weeks.

Could it be caused by food intolerance i.e. wheat/dairy/egg or possibly sugar/carbs?

Keto Diet is worth trying - it works for me!

Your rash might be seborrheaic dermatitis, which is known to be common with PD. It can look similar to Rosacea.

Easily treated with anti dandruff shampoo..

It cured me in two applications.

Incidentally I am on Prolopa (Canadian version of Madonna) and NO supplements at all.

I will try right now.

I have PD. 4 years and only recently had a rash which the Dermatologist stated it was Roasea . She prescribed an antibiotic.

This cleared the rash.
