Has anyone been treated for PD symptoms by the Parkinson Disease Clinic in Texas? The treatment involves taking Mucuna 40 powder only....no synthetic drugs (sinemet)?
PD symptoms:: Has anyone been treated for... - Cure Parkinson's
PD symptoms:
No, but Silvestrov would approve.
Progress....when i told the neurologist, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles (2016), that my son was taking it. He was NOT happy.
My son's PD turned out to be PSP, but we were blissfully ignorant until being told.
No..but I'm on a little mucuna, thiamine, and minor dose of magnesium, and D.
No, but my husband started taking Mucuna about 2.5 years ago and found it far more effective than the synthetic L-dopa in Sinemet. Synthetic L-dopa stopped being effective for him after about 10 years on it, but the natural L-dopa in Mucuna usually keeps him "on" or gets him back"on" in only 5 or 10 minutes. Since Mucuna is a bean, his body views it as a plant food source and readily absorbs it. And Mucuna is said to have neuro-protective qualities as well as being nutritious. We highly recommend it.
I should get my order, Zandopa from India, in a few days. It takes over a month and a half to Canada. Would you mind if I ask how much did he start with, is it in a powder form and what is he taking now. I am not on anything but would like to start with Mucuna and found it is sold at a health nutrition store an hour away so will go with that next time. Thanks
We experimented for a long time, beginning with a teaspoon of Mucuna powder and increasing it until we found the dose that worked for him, which happened to be 1 tablespoon. That dose (dissolved in a little pure water) keeps him "on" for an average of 3 hours. He takes up to 8 doses a day without any noticeable harm. Keep in mind that he was diagnosed in 2004, so I doubt he would have needed this much Mucuna in the early days. You just have to be willing to experiment to find the dose that works for you.
A note on Zandopa, I believe it contains an additive - a sweetener (we don't know which one) - which we personally prefer to avoid since many sweeteners are neuro-toxic. Many people / places sell pure Mucuna powder online and the prices vary wildly. We've been able to source it from sellers on eBay as well as from a reputable online herbal company for a quarter of the price of some sellers. It pays to shop around. So far, we haven't been able to detect any difference in quality or effectiveness of any of the Mucuna powders we've been supplied. All of them so far have come from India.
I hope you find it as beneficial as we have.
My husband just takes the powdered whole natural Mucuna bean as it comes. There are Mucuna extracts that have l-dopa percentages ranging from 10% to 99%, so I assume the natural bean contains less than 10% l-dopa, but I don't really know. I've read that a 15% extract works well, but we would rather use whole Mucuna as Nature made it, with all the other beneficial nutrients intact. We have a strong faith in Nature.
It certainly works quicker if he takes it on an empty stomach, but even if he eats immediately after taking his medication, it is still usually effective within 10 minutes or so.
