Yes John Pepper fast walk is essential. Right foot wants to turn to inside but after 15 porch laps I can relax the foot and keep it straight for now anyway! 8 years? That goves me hope. Has anyone tried Phosphatidylserine? Parkinson's News Today a couple of days ago. May help promote sleep

Herrington Ask John Pepper for advice. Meanwhile walk walk walk until your foot relaxes and points forward. Pool is helpful. Run in place. Wear waist flotation and twirl your legs spinning FAST and keep that foot straight. 2 mos since I have been on pool. Trying early this am. Keep in touch about your progress. Lucy

I have started Wednesday around dinnertime. I am taking this because it helps. Too early to say how or why. But I stopped the afibb blood thinner. Phosphatidylserine definitely has the same effect so please anyone who takes aspirin regularly or any blood thinner do not take this supplement with it. And read the interaction list carefully. Too early to say but I feel this extends my carbidopa/levadopa. It gets rid of mental fog. Again I take 1 capsule about 200 mg. Do your research. I will answer as best I can. We can only do what we can NOW and my strategy is to wean off meds eventually.

John Pepper what I have found especially this time around getting used to a new drug in my system (Ropinirol) is simply said "Walk it Out." The driveway mile walk is treacherous with all the gully washers we have had spring and summer. But on the porch I can almost build up to a running gait. My brother had PD several years more advanced and DBS. I will spend July 4th with family and fast walk together. Thank you so much for connecting this extraordinary group and getting the message out. Each time I take Ropinirol I head out to the front porch and fast walk. Until I can tolerate the medicine and go on with my day. I also do fast pedaling on the stationary bike alternating with fast walk. Have a wonderful day John

You mentioned in your last response that you have sciatica. This does not appear on this blog so I am responding here. I have had two discs removed from my lower spine. The pain was unbearable before having them removed. The first one was performed in 1977, when I refused to allow the surgeon to fuse the two vertebrae together. The second one was done in 1998, also without a fusion. I have skied, played golf and sailed with no problems. My Pd symptoms started in 1963 and I was only diagnosed in 1992. Doing exercise to strengthen my CORE MUSCLES was the best way to overcome my back problems.

Not sciatica. Scoliosis. That post was from someone else. But I agree strong core muscles are essential. Before my diagnosis which is an unusual story in itself...I went to physical therapy for back and frozen (right) shoulder. My shoulder did not swing. That was about 3 months and most important exercises are in bed hour before getting up strengthening core muscles. Now I have some unusual cramps? Or is it gout? But sometimes feels like I might just fall to the ground. My sister is visiting from California a science writer/ freelance now but worked for TIME her career. She has not seen me the little sis for 5 years. My dilemma...I fear that so might hurt my knee fall or slip on slippery rocks around the mountain cabin in Virginia if I go and want to stay home where I fast walk on the even surface of our front porch and have stationery bike for nighttime and know where I am across hall from bathroom. How to gracefully excuse myself with a " please visit me at home? " invitation

Hi RuffingIgo. I don't know anything about scoliosis, but would like to learn more, if you would help me.

I cannot understand what goes wrong when the spine starts to go skew? Do the muscles pull the spine into that position or do the bones change shape or deteriorate?

If it is the muscles, surely they can be encouraged somehow to relax their pull and allow the spine go back to its normal shape?

John I need to give all this more thought. Fast walk on porch. Feels refreshing outdoors today. Cool. Lacks that stifling humidity. Yes. Core muscles are weak. Need a personal trainer to keep me on track.

Forgive me for assuming that everybody lives in a climate where we are able to go outdoors and walk the whole year round. Where do you live?

Are you able to get a personal trainer? Sorry for all the questions but it doe help to know more about the people we talk to here.
