Thiamine HCL also known as vitamin B-1

Everyone responds to treatment programs differently. I am very excited to tell you about my experience.

I have been reading, with great interest, the benefits of being on the B-1 or thiamine program. The benefits that peaked my interest were releaving some issues of constipation and distonia. I believe there were some comments, that after a week or two, they were feeling better.

I went to my trustee vitamin store looking for B-1 with HHCL and as I wanted to ingest 2g in the morning and 2 g in the evening I wanted to take as few of pills as possible. I found a 500 mg supply. I started on a Saturday night expecting to, hopefully, start seeing results in a couple of weeks. By Tuesday, 3 days later, something turned on in my body. I started to have more energy and much less down time. On Friday, less then one week after starting, I went into a store to get something and came out over an hour later. I used to only last 10 minutes before my legs and back started hurting. I have now completed two weeks since starting and have had more continuous energy days since I have been dxed. This could be a placebo effect or it could be real. I don't care. I am enjoying a 7/8 normal life instead of a 1/2 or less normal.

Very nice to hear, Don :-)

By the way HCL is not a molecule, it stands for hydrochloride, it's the chemical form of thiamine you are taking. There are others, especially thiamine nitrate.

I envy you, pal. I'm completing 8th week (16 injections of 100 mg thiamine hcl) with no major change except on the first week. It was so good being free to move.

I won't give up...

Roy, what am I doing wrong ?

Could it be a nocebo effect (the opposite of placebo effect) : an unconscious refusal to heal ?

Could the oral form be more potent than the injections ?

Could it be coffee, my only one espresso a day (back from 5 to 7 espressos) ?

in reply toXenos

It is not a cure.

I believe the oral form is better for restoring normal bowel function, which has been my main benefit so far. Also just a bit past the 8 week mark. It seems people take about 3 months to report major improvements.

I take it for a week. I did not noticed any side effects; regarding any improvements I do not know what to say. I take 2g a day. Also I checked the B1 blood levels before I started and waiting for the results.
