Zeroing in on B1 dose

Trying to zero in on my dose. Started at 2 grams, quickly found it was too much. Took 1 gram and it took 1 week to get overdose symptoms. Took a week off and now at 500mg, had been on it 7 days and felt overdose symptoms the last 2 days. The overdose symptoms aren’t obvious like before. Do I go a couple more days or stop. I want to be patient and get the right dose? The other thing is it took the same amount of time to get overdose symptoms. Being 1/2 the dose, shouldn’t it take around 2 weeks to be overdosed? It could just be the normal fluctuations that PD has?

You didn't say what your overdose symptoms are? It sounds like you have narrowed your optimal dose to below 500 mg/day. Oh, and how are you doing on the pull test?

Increased stiffness, anxiety, rigidity. My pull test has been good even before b1.

Has your pull test ever been very good with no step back or only a half step back? Dr. C used a very good pull test in conjunction with most reduced symptoms to help zero in on optimal dosing.

yea, my pull test has always been good. I think I’m overdosing because the later in the evening it gets, the better I feel.(take my dose first thing in the morning

overdose symptoms can start immediately So you can carry on with 500 for say another 2 weeks to see if things calm down If not take a full two eeek break to clear your system then start again on 250 and persevere. You will get there it just takes time but worth when you hit sweet spot

You also don’t mention if you are taking an adequate break between the overdose and restarting. Before my book “Parkinson’s and the B1 therapy” was published, I asked Dr Costantini’s colleagues to check it. They approved of all my recommendations except one. The asked me to suggest that a 1-2 week break after an overdose was necessary, not the 5-7 days I’d originally written. If you don’t take an adequate break your thiamine levels will still be high and you’ll overdose quickly again which won’t be a true reaction to the new dosage.

I took a week off between doses. Should I try 2 and restart at 500 mg again? I feels like it works for a few days and quickly feels worse.

how do you feel at the end of your one week break? If you start to feel fatigue returning, your thiamine levels are probably right down. If you still feel lively, I think I would give it a bit longer. There wouldn’t be any real problem in breaking a bit longer. You shouldn’t lose your benefits/symptom improvements assuming you’ve had some. Then when you restart you can trial 500 mg properly rather than putting it on top of an existing high thiamine level.
