Hello fellow members of the PWP community. My name is Judie and this is the first blog/forum I have ever joined so I am pretty naïve as to how it works. I have been reading your posts for a little while and have learned a lot - so thank you all. I started seeing Doc's for a diagnosis in the fall of 2010 and was finally diagnosed in Jan of 2012. With the help of my naturopath I have mostly controlled my symptoms with amino acids (mucuna, l-tyrosine, n-acetyl cysteine) and other natural supplements. It has not stopped the progression but I would rather not take the pharmaceuticals. My neurologist has allowed me to do this but knows nothing about natural treatments. He just tells me I am doing really good and I should keep it up. Thank you all for all the research you share.

Welcome, by the way there are not any medications that slow the progression of PD there are only ones that help with the symptoms for most but not all patients.
You are very welcome Judie. Learn whatever you can from this forum, and also look at facebook pages like Purely Parkinsons, and websites such as Parkinsons.org. Try to remain as positive as possible in attitude. There are different types of Parkinson's disease, with different causes. We can expect to see progress in treatment options over the next few years.
Welcome, I read this blog ever morning.. Helps
By all means continue with the n-acetyl cysteine. Exercise is vital, daily preferably. Find something you enjoy doing - could be ballroom dancing, boxing, you name it. Qigong is helping me but I may be a special case healthunlocked.com/parkinso...
If you look at my profile you will see that I have overcome most of my symptoms and have no longer needed to take any medication since 2002. This is real and there is no catch t it. Contact me and I will help you.
I read your book when I was first diagnosed in 2012 and I'm sure I incorporated into my protocol some of your suggestions. I will have to reread to refresh my memory. Thanks
