Hidden is it today you are changing over to LE Benfotiamine 250mg? What's the reasoning behind this change if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks.

RoyProp,

- How do you take it : orally or parenterally (intramuscular) ?

- Do you mix it with some B6 and nicotinamide (B3, aka PP) to prevent the risk mentioned on the Mayo Clinic pages ?

Thank you so much for sharing. This looks promising...

in reply toXenos

from my readings: Oral substitutes:

allithiamine, thiamine hcl, benfotiamine, mega benfotiamine,

I take a B complex every day

My son, a diabetic, comments: "Yeah, I read a couple of forums talking about this because for some people it worked too well and their BP meds and Sugar meds would cause low BP or low Blood sugar and cause them to feel faint or pass out. Sounds like a nice problem to have. This is how some of them are able to back off their prescription meds to prevent this problem. I get the same warnings on my injections. "May cause low blood sugar", which is why I take them."

reference: Caution is advised in people with diabetes or high blood sugar, and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar or that widen blood vessels.

Hi RoyProp,

I am wondering your report since it has been 2 months since the switch to greatly increasing your B1 intake

Thanks

in reply toTomandDon

I am thinking positive. Needs more time. My good condition may be due to slow progression. No negatives. The positives: brush my teeth now w/o needing elect brush, more strength, no increase in tremor.

Slow progression: 5th year and have not fallen to the surprise of my neuro, was seeing neuro every 6th month, last month he set app one year. He said if needed we could do some changes earlier. He said my condition can change in as little time as one week.

Great to hear your progress. 1 year appointment time instead of 6 months is awesome!

Hi Roy. I have ordered thiamin hcl I thought the dose was 2000 mg morning and noon. But all I can find is a link from dr costantini saying 60 kilos equals 600mg per day. Can you pls give me the link for the 2000mg x 2 per day dosage? Did you go by body weight? I weigh 52 kilos. What should I take? How long will you continue on thiamin hcl 4000 mg? Thankyou..Bev

in reply toBeverly2017

4g a day was his recommend directly to me. Without considering my weight. I see this being a lifetime effort.

He recommended the second dose be at lunch as an evening dose might interfere with sleep. It does not interfere with my sleep when taken late afternoon.

Roy what is your weight?? Dosage may be calculated by body weight. I don't want to over do it. And it's always great to have an opinion....

Thx Bev

in reply toBeverly2017

In referencing Doc: start with 2g a day. See how you do for 4weeks. Move to 4 g day if there is room for improvement. Excess B1 is passed out when you go to the bathroom.

Great suggestion. You sound like you are very pleased with your results. Sounds like it's a fabulous option for us. I can hardly wait til I get my thiamin! How much excercise do you do and any other supplements that you feel are important? Thanks Roy for your suggestions. Bev. Oh 1 more question ...are you lowering your dose after 2 months?

in reply toBeverly2017

I weigh 185#. I dont expect to lower dose. Its been 2 months now. Earlier improvement due to allithiamine/mega-benfotimine. After changing to thiamine HCL, I am no longer constipated all the time. I still look for tremor going away. Later I may increase dose.

See my profile listing supplements I take to ward off pain. I do not exercise. A year ago I received epidural steroid injection to stop my screaming pain

Oh no...too bad about all that pain. Guess you've tried everything. Is it getting better?

Beverly2017 in reply toBeverly2017

Thanks for the other info. Glad constipation is gone. Nothing worse. I get my thiamin in a week. Can't wait. Have to have my daughter bring it to me in Mexico

in reply toBeverly2017

I tried everything incl hydrocodone. Nothing worked.

The injection worked but even that may be temp. I am one year pain free.
