Rasagiline (Azilect) and entacapone comparison

I'm interested in comparing rasagiline (Azilect) with entacapone. Has anyone had experience with taking both of them but at different times? Can you compare how each affected your PD symptoms? Can you compare the negative side effects of each? Thank you.

Yes, I take C/L 25/100 every 2.5 hours.

Do you take the entacapone with the C/L?

have taken the two together without a problem. But i can not take entacapone any more because i get severe side effects when i do. I can not take any extender like entacapone or any version including extended release C/L, or Rytary. Just standard release C/L only and i take a lot (18 25/100 3 every 4 hours 24/7) without side effects. I also take 1 6mg Requip for restless leg.

Bailey, until now, I haven't taken anything but the C/L. However, tomorrow, I go to see my neuro, and he's probably going to suggest my adding either entacapone or rasagiline to the C/L.

Can you tell me what were the severe side effects you got with entacapone?

Night time uncontrolled movements, bad restless leg to the point of no sleep (2 hours at best) loss the ability of speech, random out burst of profanity, mood swings, all at night for hours. almost every night. All went away when i stop taking entacapone. The same thing happenned with rytary and Ext release C/L.

Whew! I'm sure I would have had a few random outbursts of profanity myself after dealing with all of that! I'm glad you have found some peace.

Just want to add that everyone is different - extentended release / controlled release works much better for me.

Glad you have found what works for you.
