If the side effects are bad change the meds. carbidopa levodopa is a great alternative the carbidopa part can help with the nausea that is it's job. No that is not normal for anyone and unacceptable call her Doctor and change her meds. carbidopa levodopa comes in many forms ext release, instance release. formulas include 10/100 25/100 50/200. There are more meds than i can list but carbidopa levodopa is called the gold standard for Parkinson's.
Staying in bed is the worst thing a person can do for Parkinson's it just makes it worst. Activities like walking, group exercise, doing house work if she enjoys it or any activity that one enjoys that requires one to move, watching tv or reading a book does little to help.
Get her moving it will help with her depression also.
carbidopa levodopa is not a MAO inhibitors but some PD meds are and can not be taken with Endep so be careful if they change her meds. "Taking MAO inhibitors with this medication may cause a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction. "
How long has she had pd and what is her age and physical condition.
How long has she been taking the madopar? I found when I started it, taking domperidone with it helped with the nausea most of the time, then you get more used to it and the nausea lessens. Does she have any beneficial effect from it?
I take Cymbalta. It's an anti-depressant that has a pain-killing effect over the long haul. It has helped tremendously to lessen pain in my arm and shoulder from tremor.

your mum is on a low dose of madopar so as grower says in time hopefullly will tolerate it better. Important to keep hydrated too for headaches and dizziness.
Staying in bed alot may also be due to depression. She may need to change from endip to another antidepressant. These ones seem to be better.
