Got the flu.: How does the flu effect your... - Cure Parkinson's
Got the flu.
Gosh, Bailey, I'm sorry about your falls. I appreciate you sharing about your flu. My son had 102 fever last night. I gave him one advil. This morning and most of the day no fever. About 4pm his forehead was hot. Took his temperature, 101.5 Gave him another Advil. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
My son had BOTOX (2nd administration) for cervical dystonia on WED, Nov 16th, by Saturday he started experiencing negative results. 3 falls Sat to Mon. EXTREME ANXIETY. Can't hold head up straight. With Acupuncture he was able to do that. His gait totally off. No more Botox. He was doing so well on Acupuncture. Oh well good to know about his reactions to Botox.
I saw a neuro specialising in botox about my inability to open my eyes especially the parkie side for up to ten minutes after I wake - OK through the day.. He said not to have it down before my trip to China because I could end up worse as it takes several goes to get the "dose"right. I believe the effects for the good , and presumably for the bad, wear off in about three months.
Hope you continue to feel better, no more falls Bailey, people can get hurt that way. When I fall like that I always have a beer afterwards sometimes two.
Is it okay to have a drink whilst on the meds?😊im newly diagnosed
Horrible Bailey, for anyone, for you a double nasty, stop fighting it go with the flow, stay in bed, lots of liquids, unspecified, and wait it out, they say with a cold if you treat it it goes in 7 days, if you do nothing it goes in a week. with flu it takes longer. Look after yourself.
Did you have flu jab? anyone had one with bad reaction or no reaction? we both have one every Oct so far OH has not had any bad reactions.
I developed movement disorder shortly after the only flu shot I ever had.
I've been getting a flu shot for a few years. This was the first time I had a bad reaction. All the next day I felt fluish. But it went away -- the day after, I was back to normal.
I have been wondering if I should start getting a pneumonia shot.
Which is considered worse? the shot and a minor reaction or the full blown jobby?
Balance in all things.
I'm sorry to admit I lie through my teeth every time my Neuro asks about the flu or pneumonia shot..... I'm not bragging....Just remembering the day after thing from tears ago and wondering "why even do it".....
You might want to read this before deciding whether or not to have a flu shot -
thetruthaboutcancer.com/sho...
It says, "Having a Flu Shot Offers No Guarantee You Won’t Get the Flu. There is no single virus that causes the flu and there is no single flu vaccine that protects against all strains. More than 3,000 various strains of the virus are narrowed down (based on a best guess by scientists) to 3 viruses to create protection against". AND "Many researchers today believe that our exposure to environmental toxins including the heavy metal exposure we receive from vaccines is causing the increasing rise in neurological degenerative diseases. These diseases include Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease)".
You have to ask yourself why, if flu shots are safe, does the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program to provide financial compensation to individuals who have been injured by a VICP-covered vaccine?
I take Sinemet. Had flu jab in early October with no adverse reaction. Rest of my family also vaccinated to avoid spreading any likely bugs.
try a shot of bourbon mixed with hot water and a dash of honey. worked for me last year when I had the flu
Why hot water?
Stay strong Texan friend. You know to stay hydrated when you are having nausea. I prefer grape or orange juice because they are high in electrolytes. Just wondering if you got the flu shot and caught it anyway? We haven't got our flu shots yet, as we were both sick the last time we were at the internist's office. Don't you always wonder whether or not to get it since you already have a compromising health problem? I get it every year but I feel concerned every year.
I find that I also see a significant increase in my Parkinson's symptoms when I have the flu. The most noticeable effect is that my tremors become much worse. I also find that my balance is affected. I have back pain that is Parkinson's related and being ill sends my pain level through the roof. In many instances the increase in pain is the first warning I have that I am coming down with something. I thought this was a common phenomenon but based on the responses to your post it doesn't seem that many other people experience this. The upside is that everything should go back to "normal" once you recover. Unfortunately, it does make an already unpleasant experience that much worse. Feel better soon.
I take Amantadine and I have not had a bad cold or flu since being on it. I should correct myself, I have had real nasty ones just never felt it but I have passed them on before.
Thanks everyone for your concern. My fever broke last night about 9 pm and i feel great today. Took about 4 days to run the course. I had a flu shot about a month ago and i believe it help shorten my recovery time. Back to my routine.
Bailey
Bummer! So sorry to hear you got this bug. Hope it leaves shortly. I had my flu shot. Does anyone know how effective it is this year? Some years it's like getting shot with sterile water, no help at all.
I've had some ghastly bug that's lasted a few days - my husband caught the same thing but I was more affected. I wrote yesterday off and stayed in bed. Much better today, glad you're recovering Bailey
