Too many supplements and vitamins ?

Along with the many supplements I take, I'm also taking regular multivitamins even though some of the ingredients are also in my supplements. Do you also take multis with your supplements?

I only take prescription Vitamin D2, B12 shots and prescription potassium. I use to take fish oil but everything started tasting like fish and I don't care for fish very much. My blood is tested every 3 months and my doctor says I have no need to take other vitamins.

you can't go wrong (much) if you take a balanced multi-mineral multivitamin supplement, preferably with time-released vitamin C, and chelated calcium (helps absorption, which is a problem with this mineral), I think that's still available....but my fav brand (SWISS) seems to have discontinued chelation???

you have to be careful/knowledgeable to avoid undoing your supplementation regime....not always straightforward.

That is a problem, mainly because you are paying for what are probably more than you need. That is why we had to do almost everything separately.....dozens of pills. Now with swallow problems, that's a lot harder so we use a powdered multiple in a smoothie and just dump in the extras...if they don't ruin the taste. The ones that do ruin the taste still go down in capsules. We use Integrative Therapy multiple vit/min powder but there are now some good liquids. It's tricky but we used loads of supplements. I made a spread sheet and once establishing amounts, got little med bottles from pharmacist and filled them for several weeks Usage with marked lids (usually white) using permanent markers. B for breakfast, L for lunch and D for dinner. Some things, like proteolytic enzymes and others must be taken between meals so did those also.

Do not be discouraged into not using supplements and for the most part , you will not be taking too much. Remember, the amounts in a formula are often based on minimum daily requirement (before a diseased state begins in MOST normal people...not people with a degenerative disease) and you are not after that amount but a therapeutic amount.Look up dosage for each and unless you are taking about six a day of multis you will probably not be taking too much...very hard to get everything you need in less than 5/6 caps. Look up PureCaps Ultimate...that will give you an idea of what a 'good' formula should look like.

Vitacost is a good site for discount supplements. ConsumerLab.com is a paid subscription and sells no product...only reviews and compares quality and price with incredible reports on various supplements showing all major study results and explanations of what works for what. Worth every penny.

if you are going to take therapeutic doses, you have to control the fat soluable vitamins, like D, E, check for others.
