There is a book on Amazon about Mucuna Pruriens that I am curious about:
Mucuna Versus Parkinson: Treatment with Natural Levodopa, by Dr. Rafael Gonzalez Maldonado
Does anyone have any knowledge about this book or its author? Thanks.

Yes; I downloaded it on to my Kindle. It is informative but I didn't learn anything new.
According to him my doctor is the best person to advise me about macuna. My doctor is a lovely man but I doubt he knows the first thing about macuna. A small point perhaps but based on an enormous assumption.
Palmarloop, thanks for the feedback on the book. Would you say that what's in the book can also be found on the internet?
I have a sense that anytime an author tells readers to check with their doctor about something, they're just covering their legal backside. (If we were the author, we might do the same.) Obviously, most medical doctors, including neurologists, don't know much, if anything, about Mucuna. And, if the do know anything about it, they may be prevented by the American Medical Association (or its counterpart) from prescribing it. (The way I approached my neuro about it was I told him I knew he couldn't prescribe it for me, then I asked him if he had any objections to my cautiously experimenting with it. He said he had no objections.)
How is your experiment going?
Macuna versus Parkinson
Hi; I think that the information is available elsewhere but he has gathered it together in one place. Most of what he suggests is common sense; start slowly, take care where you buy your powder, etc. Other than that, he does not recommend adding other substances such as green tea, or to be fair, he advises taking care. (Unfortunate for me since I'm about to embark on a regime of Macuna green tea extract and amino acids). Apparently thousands of studies have been carried out on the effect of Medopar and Sinemet but information about Macuna is scarce. To me that simply goes to show that it is not in Big Pharma's interest to test Macuna because they cannot patent it (I think that is how it works, I might be wrong) after all Macuna has been around for a long time and if they were interested they'd have done it by now. I've had PD for eleven years, I gave up visiting the Neuro a couple of years ago when I realised he had nothing to offer and I preferred to try and sort it out for myself. I just want to emphasize that because you might get the book and have a completely different experience.
Best wishes
